Rosyhf 08-27-2010 09:46 AM

oh what a great find.

fancifrock 08-27-2010 11:42 AM

Wow!!!! Any plans for any of the material?

oldswimmer 08-27-2010 03:43 PM

Well, I know I will use the border prints to make some cute aprons. I also love the blue and orangey-gold paisley in the second picture.... and I am still thinking on that one, maybe an Irish chain????
I would appreciate any ideas from all of you. The pinks will be included in a pink and brown quilt that I have been collecting scraps for.... I will keep my eyes open for a moment of inspiration, now that I have these on my mind!

I knew I'd had some of my fabric a long time, and I could recognize some of your patterns. I really need to get rid of a lot of my stash since it is obvious I"ll never live long enough to use all this.

SewExtremeSeams 08-27-2010 04:51 PM

Wow, Peggy, you were very blessed to have been invited to come look. Can't wait to see what you will make with some of those fabrics.

Does it make me 'vintage' if I can remember when fabric came in 34-35" widths. :-D

You definitely were blessed the day they called about these treasures. I really like the border prints and the raggedy anne and andy best, I think as a fabriholic I'd have a hard time picking just one. Enjoy and show us your finished products.

Woohoo! Very nice of the lady to call you.

earthwalker 08-29-2010 10:10 PM

Well looks like there'll be a vintage machine stitching all those gorgeous vintage fabrics....Thanks for sharing the joy!

ccthomas 08-30-2010 06:11 AM

Do you find the vintage fabric holds up well? Can you wash it and then use it as you would new fabric? Or is it more for "collecting" or wall type hangings, etc.?

I usually only buy the fabric that has a meaty hand to it... I leave the thin or flimsy stuff for somebody else. Everything that I got this trip felt really nice, and seem to be very sturdy. I dont think I would have any trouble using it in a quilt today.

nellie 08-30-2010 06:22 PM

wow you really hit it big such beauitful fabrics can,t wait to see what you make from these treasure,s

I love the vintage fabrics and have quite a collection including a large stack of feedsacks. I think I recognize a few pieces you have. Your bird book would make nice applique designs. I had my husband enlarge a picture one time by using a graph chart. I then traced the pieces of the enlarged picture to make applique templates. Turned out very nice.

Wow, that is a cool idea..... never thought of that.
