Ok...You many know that I am an antiquer and love vintage fabrics. I used to have a small antique mall and I went to every auction I could... always looking for vintage fabric and notions. I also ended up bidding against a lady & her husband who now make their living by buying estates. They go in and make a bid on everything in the house after the family has taken what they want. So she calls me last Saturday and tells me that she has just bought two estates that had alot of fabric and says I should come look. They have a second hand store that is only open on Saturdays and it is where they sell all the estate items. I went to look and
OH MY GOSH..... this is what I bought! All of this is 35-36" wide vintage fabric. I was just giddy!!!!!!!!! Bear with me, I have alot of pictures! Im going to post more than the original three pics, so come back to look if there is not more than three when you view this. some great old florals! Beautiful ombre daisy! left is a beautiful asain dragon print, has 39 cent price tag still on it from "Newberrys" store, and a raggedy ann & andy border print with 59 cent tag from "Totem Dept. store", right is a large piece of bark cloth like fabric The piece in the upper right is a blue and orange paisley.....love it! The great pinks and reds! Ok, just to be fair... I did buy something besides fabric... a great bird book with illustrations that are exactly 8 X 10...Can you guess what I am going to do with these? I am doing a bedroom in all vintage items. My favorites... border prints.. I see some cool aprons in my future! Love the purple roses and the orange/gold/brown stripe |

Well Peggy, you hit the jackpot. Lucky you.
Well, I just discovered I love vintage fabrics and didn't know it. Never thought of "vintage" unless it was old lace or brocades, etc. This is beautiful stuff. Post pics when you make this up.
You know... "Vintage" means something different to everyone. I don't know if there are "rules" or "guidelines" anywhere, but for me... anything that is 35" wide, I consider vintage. I do know there were some fabrics from the 30's that were 40" wide, but I dont think they were cottons.
So the difference is in the width of the fabric?
Oh that was a real haul. Good for you.
A couple of those aren't vintage, but nice haul anyway ;-)
Oh wow, you hit the jack pot for sure

Oh, I am so there the next time I'm back to visit. Probably will be Christmas. Hopefully this year will not be snowed in for 4 days. |
Lucky you!!! Great find.

You are going to have so much fun!!!!

"left is a beautiful asain dragon print, has 39 cent price tag still on it from "Newberrys" store,"
The Newberry store was located in Alliance. I'm wondering if you'd consider donating that piece to the museum here in Alliance. |
My jaw hit the floor! WOW! I have been collecting vintage fabric & notions for years, but have never come across anything like that all at once! LUCKY LADY!
Great find! Can't wait to see what you have in store for them!!!
Can't wait to see your finished project. Do before and afters of your bedroom.
What a great find! I am wondering what you will make with all that neat fabric!! :D
I have no idea what I will make with these. I am open to any and all suggestions! I have an old Turkey Tracks pattern in a book that I have been contemplating. Its just in my genes to hunt for this kind of stuff, and I used to buy and sell it. It is hard to break old habits.... I couldnt pass it up. And the price was so reasonable.

I love vintage fabric. Blessings, Scherrie |
Do some research on that bird book before you frame any as some of them are worth a lot of money.
