I took my chance....

3 Attachment(s)
...at trying to make a Strata Star....and then it ended being 3 Strata Stars!!!
The 2 top ones were done in the last 3 days. As my hubby is coming home after 7 weeks away, I had to serve my patchwork cravings in finishing those 2 stars as while he's home (only a few days), he's the center of my attentíon!!! :) The bottom one was the first one I made.
Those are only the tops of course, still to be sandwiched and quilted but that will be done when hubby is gone again.
You all have a lovely week-end and thanks for looking.

Great fabric choices and Strata Stars!

Murphy1 10-12-2013 06:49 AM

Next to OBW this is a favorite to make. When I finish mine I use the birthing method rather than binding. Easy with all the points and valleys. Enjoy your time with hubby, time does go quickly.

So easy and quick to make!!! Once you've done your first one with all the mistakes you have to fix again :) , the next ones are really done in an afternoon. There is a tutorial on QB but I can't find it anymore. Maybe you have time to look for it. Good luck and have a great Sunday!!!

No Brenda, I used my square 12 1/2" ruler and put some tape across the corner on 5 1/2" and 9". The strips are 2" and you have to make 4 sets of 4 different fabric (I just used the width of the fabric - might need an extra set if your fabric is very narrow) and when the strips are sewn together they have to be 6 1/2". Good luck!!!

DJ 10-12-2013 02:32 PM

They are wonderful. Truly great color combos.

Love all 3- great DH is home! This is on my to do list- great job.

Elfi2 10-12-2013 11:29 PM

A couple of ladies had asked me in a PM about this pattern and after quite a bit of searching I found it and that's the one I followed to make my stars. Good luck!!! :)

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByHo...M3/edit?pli=1#

The only thing I did differently, I used my 12 1/2" ruler, took it on an angle and stuck some tape on the 5 1/2" marker for the small triangles and on 9" for the large ones. I found it easier.

Mary O 10-13-2013 02:34 AM

No Mary, I haven't tried 1.5 strips and actually I was thinking about it and wondering... How many different fabric do you take and on what do you align your ruler to cut the triangles???
Would love to get your input on that. Thanks :)

klgls 10-13-2013 04:37 AM
