Your blocks a terrific, K! My favorite is the Ducky, though...... You're inspiring me to get going on mine, but I had projects halfway done and I just have got to finish them. Keep them coming. In fact, you could paper piece my landscape design and we could pretend I did it!

amma 09-15-2009 11:48 AM

 Ducky

kd124 09-15-2009 12:02 PM

Looks great. The blocks are adorable.

k3n 09-15-2009 12:11 PM

Thank you everyone! Have been googling around for more patterns and I found this http://thimble-art.com/wp-content/up...ip-pattern.pdf

DIMENSIONAL PP!!!

Gotta try it! Will go post it in links as well. :D

Sheila Elaine 09-15-2009 01:43 PM

K, those are too cute. Where can I find the doggie & kitty patterns? All of the PDA folks are so nice, you included. I love to spend time on there. Rhonda is a dear & all the ducks, etc. Gotta run.

k3n 09-16-2009 12:40 AM

Sheila Elaine 09-16-2009 11:44 AM

Mousie 09-16-2009 04:14 PM

well, as for friends from the diary section...I'm dragging up my rear, LOL!...but I am finally here, and K, your blocks are GREAT!
wow, Amma, your a good teacher, and have great students.
Never thought of using foundation-templates. I do love to save on my fabrics. At the rate I am being frugal with it, I could will it to my great, great, greats
P.S. K, I just know, I told you somewhere, but I love your rooster!
He really is something to crow about, too!

Thanks re the rooster - you DID say it already but I don't mind hearing it again  .

Re the fabric wastage - if you use amma's template method then you hardly waste a scrap! :D

judyjo 09-17-2009 09:28 AM

You did a great job!! I am hooked on paper piecing .... in fact I now prefer that to regular patchwork. I have a quilting friend who lives nearby and we are always getting together to compare notes and patterns.

These are lovely and the lucky child (for several generations)
who gets this will love it forever.

I do hate to rain on your parade, but as a mother, I would
strongly suggest this be a wall hanging, or else remove the
buttons and embroidery some animal eyes in place of the buttons. Or ARE they already embroideried on and made to
look like buttons?

luvabargain 09-17-2009 12:36 PM

Those are darling.

Sheree from Chicago 09-17-2009 09:05 PM

These are really, really cute!

pocoellie 09-18-2009 03:50 AM

If the buttons are sewn on with dental floss, they are safe for all ages. Even agressive toddlers. Now if the toddler has access to scissors, all bets are off, but they'd be in more danger from the scissors than the buttons.

and a great person!

K, have to tell you, AGAIN...i love your blocks, but that first one, melts the cockles of my wee little heart...well, it's big, but I'm a mouse,...maybe that's why I like the little furry critter one, so much

nursie76 09-18-2009 05:10 AM

Excellent! What a great job for your first adventure in pp. I just love paper piecing! Soon you will be looking at every block you see to imagine how it could be done the pp way! :D

butterflywing 09-18-2009 09:18 AM

is your dog jealous?

Belles.hold 09-18-2009 09:32 AM

You've made a Delightful Duck and Perky Puppy. Is the beak on the Duck 3-D? Ir looks like it. Or is it a Prairie Point?

Janstar 09-18-2009 03:38 PM

Great job K! I think you are on a roll!!

I did take a lesson and still was not interested in doing much more.until a friend introduced me to the add an 1/8" and the add a 1/4" rullers. It made the cutting and fitting in place so very much easier.

I would never had tried the following if it weren't for these two rulers.

Hi Ramona - I just laid the buttons on for the pics, I plan to embroider the details for the reason you mention.

It's a square of fabric folded twice and sewn into the seam. So I guess it's a prairie point! :D
