Instead of sewing 2 1/2" strips, just cut strips the width of the stripe, then cut a plain strip the same width. You could get a mitered block!

Alien Quilter, what a totally cool idea for that sort of print. I'm going to try it with some similar stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love the fabric. Normally I am not a black person, but this is gorgous. I see two off the top of my head ideas. A kaladiecope or cutting the floral and the paisley into a 5 06 in block on point alternating your solids for setting. Other suggestions of using this as center of star is also a great idea.

What ever you do will be beautiful. I'll take it.

Hmmm... well maybe make a block of the solids in strips and cut them into squares, then cut the one that's your favorite in squares to match the size of the block of strips--then alternate them in a lay out. I've done this pattern twice and am doing one now... I don't know how the blocks would look with the "solid" block being striped...

Good luck deciding. I can't wait to see what you decide.

I can see this as a one block wonder with the cubes added out of the tone-on-tone fabrics.

That is exactly what I did--that is, cut the stripes apart. Then I used some in log cabin blocks and think will use more as sashing--I made 24 10" blocks today while watching college football (our team won). I've made 6 star blocks out of them (20" aprox size blocks). I think I'm going to do enough to make 3 more star blocks so I can make a bigger quilt. I'll post pictures later.

I really appreciate all the feed-back. It got me off dead-center!
