I'll do the other border when I get up the energy and desire to do it.

I order the fabrics last night to do another one in blue and brown. Then I started playing around with the placement of the pieces. Some interesting possibilities but nothing that wows me yet.

Don't I look very trustworthy to you???

So...did you break down and order the C/T's fab? I love that collection. I swear that I'm not going to order more fabric for this month's Visa bill...I almost had a heart attack when I opened my most recent bill  So...I'm just gonna wait and get wowed by yours!!

Yeah, I got the CT Irristible Indigo 3. A beige background, 3 blues and 2 browns for the star and a brown and a blue for the borders. I just paid bills so I figured I was good to work on next months bills.

What I love about thumbnail pictures of the fabrics is that I can just right-click on them, save as... and put them into a folder called Fabrics and sub-folders for all the collections I have/want. Then I can import them into EQ6 and use the real fabrics in designs. This is what I plan for the CT fabric. The other 3 are ones I was playing with last night trying to come up with something a little different.

I think it's a gorgeous quilt either way. It's your quilt - your choice.

Wow! I love the No Blue Diamonds. My kind of pattern and I love the colors. Any chance of getting the pattern?

k3n 06-19-2009 12:16 AM

I love all three of the new ones but I think my favourite is top left - it's a really strong design. And the dark blue border on No Blue Diamonds is perfect!

I vote yes on the second border too. I love the fact that you mitered the corners on the borders (no wonder you're sick of doing borders though ) This is an absolutely gorgeous quilt and I think if you don't put the 2nd border on now, you'll regret it later (been there, done that).

Second. Beauitful.

sandpat 06-19-2009 03:40 AM

Wow Pam...I like all of the new designs, but I'll have to say that I like the top right in the first pic, then of course I love No Blue Diamonds! Both of them leave some great quilting room. I've gotten to a point where I like to see plenty of open space on a quilt so there is plenty of room to play with the quilting designs. Whichever you choose is going to be beautiful!

I didn't know that about the fabric pic saving thing..I'll have to see if it works with EQ5. Thanks!

I agree with the second border ladies... The darkest navy would really be a great accent to the navy points. I wouldnt worry about rushing to finish it... I have a quilt I started in 85 thats still waiting for the final border... havent been in the mood to do it yet
Your quilt is beautiful!

sewnsewer2 06-19-2009 04:57 AM

It's beautiful!!

The pattern is called No Diamonds In The Sky and I bought it online. It's like a Broken Star but with triangles instead of diamonds. Very easy to do, all HSTs, it's just putting it together is tricky to make sure each section is the right colors going the right way.

You can probably import fabric into EQ5. I have EQ4 and it can. Sometimes the scale is WAY off depending on the size of the imported fabric picture. Thumbnails are usually OK but at the least you get the colors. I always clear out the fabrics in the default sketchbook and then add my fabrics so I'm not dealing with all the unwanted ones too.

k3n 06-19-2009 07:07 AM

Oooh, I like that one!

Ninnie 06-19-2009 07:11 AM

Sorry, but I too think it needs a second border.

ranger 06-19-2009 07:24 AM

Wow!!! I like that one A LOT.

I like this one too! :D I had to change the colors a little bit to match the yardage of what I ordered. I can do this with the same fabric though it comes up with 1/4 yd more needed of the beige background. Maybe I can come up with a small design in some of the solid areas to make up for that if it really comes out that way. There are bits of fabric left over, 1/8 to 1/4 yd of 2 of the blues and one brown.

sandpat 06-19-2009 03:48 PM

Yes Pam, I really like that one too....oh...how in the world are you gonna' decide which of these beauties to tackle?

JoanneS 06-19-2009 05:54 PM

Please just put it aside for a while. I think it does need more borderS, probably more than just a 2nd one, because the center is so big. Sorry, I know I'm not the one doing the work --------- but you've done such a GREAT job so far, and I'd hate to see you stop now - just because you're 'bordered' at at the moment. Please don't throw anything at me

Re the new designs: I like 'em all, so order more fabric and make all of them [can you see me ducking?]

Aren't I helpful

motomom 06-19-2009 08:40 PM

Beautiful! I love it. I am undecided about the border, sorry.

Denise0256 06-20-2009 07:07 PM

I think anything less would not have the effect you have chosen. Absolutley stunning. You could send it my way, I wouldn't throw it away.
Love it, Denise (new on here)   :D  :D

azam 06-20-2009 11:54 PM

Yup, second border has my vote.

mar32428 06-21-2009 03:58 AM

Thanks, Pam. I did order one. Now the fun comes. Picking out my fabrics.
