After doing borders on two quilts in the last few days I am so tired of it! This is the first border I had planned for this quilt and looking at it I'm thinking... does it really need the second border? It's about 76" x 76" now and the next border would be 4 or 5 inches (I'd have to measure the pattern repeat again to be sure).

gaigai 06-16-2009 06:32 AM

Sorry, Pam, but I vote yes for the second border. And it is a really beautiful quilt!

kwhite 06-16-2009 06:38 AM

Me too. Yea on the second boarder, but when you are in the mood. If I sew when I am not in the mood I will surely screw it up.

gcathie 06-16-2009 06:56 AM

I like the second border too......

mytwopals 06-16-2009 06:58 AM

I have to agree with the others. I like the second border, too.

cutebuns 06-16-2009 06:59 AM

I really like the second border as well.

k3n 06-16-2009 07:16 AM

I'm afraid I agree - Pam, second border to really give a deep frame to the stars, otherwise they're a little too close to the edge! Put it away for a while and come back when you're more in the mood for borders!

Esqmommy 06-16-2009 07:22 AM

Absolutely go with the 2nd border. It will frame it so nicely. Your quilt is beautiful Pam!!!

Bevanger 06-16-2009 07:25 AM

gorgeous quilt.

Mousie 06-16-2009 07:32 AM

yes, I too, vote for the second border. The middle is so large, that with just the one border, it looks unfinished.
Great quilt all the way, though! :D

thismomquilts 06-16-2009 07:36 AM

This is so pretty - but, I think it needs another border too :) Great job!

reneebobby 06-16-2009 07:38 AM

My goodness Pam your whipping these quilts out like there is no tomorrow. Wow what a georgous quilt again.

I was going to vote no to the second border, but k3n makes a good point about the closeness to the border. So, now I vote yes to the second border. Good luck, I hope it doesn't wear you out too much. I absolutely love this quilt!

Angie 06-16-2009 07:56 AM

Your quilt is too nice to stop now ! A second border would be great and frame your work nicely! It'll be worth the trouble and you will be glad when your'e finished.

RedGarnet222 06-16-2009 08:02 AM

I think if you don't want the last border that you should do what you want, pam. That is what is so neat about quilting, making it your own design that makes you happy.

kluedesigns 06-16-2009 08:07 AM

i think it looks great with the 1 border but i would put on the second darker border.

amma 06-16-2009 08:11 AM

I too vote for a second border. Beautiful quilt!!! :D :D :D

pittsburgpam 06-16-2009 08:25 AM

Yeah... After looking at it more I agree that it looks unfinished with just the small border.

Did I ever mention that long straight cuts of fabric are my weakness and I put it off forever? :P

You could always do a pieced border, if you like that better!

You can definately tell that you are a mother... "If you don't like that you can have THIS!"

Shemjo 06-16-2009 09:00 AM

I'm laughing at the comments. I do think it needs another border, but you can choose what kind!

That was me too. I was thinking the one border was enough until I keep reading the responses. I think K3n has a point. Beautiful quilt!

 but only if you BEHAVE!

quiltluvr 06-16-2009 10:16 AM

Since you asked, I'm with the rest, add the second.

However, I'm with Red too, whatever makes you happy. No rules.

Harmony 06-16-2009 11:42 AM

Think about this. If you don't do the second border, will it bug you every single time you look at the quilt?

There's your answer!

MollieSue 06-16-2009 11:45 AM

I was thinking it's absolutly beautiful as it is, but then read the other's comments, and kind of agree..... Either way, it's going to be beautiful!! :D

And if you don't do the other border because you don't like doing straight bits, instead of because you don't think it needs it, it will bug you even more. :-)

pittsburgpam 06-16-2009 12:38 PM

Dang... y'all are mothers! (in a nice way). Now appealing to my conscience and doing what's right even when it's hard and how am I going to feel.... ! :P

crkathleen 06-16-2009 12:45 PM

I 2nd the 2nd border! Beautiful quilt

sewjoyce 06-16-2009 12:48 PM

Beautiful quilt but I think it needs a second border also!

Debbie1 06-16-2009 01:27 PM

Another perfect one! I vote for the second border though!

omak 06-16-2009 06:53 PM

It looks done to me, except for an apple green binding ... and, you will be set!

Adriane 06-16-2009 06:55 PM

The second border frames it very well.

Eddie 06-16-2009 06:55 PM

I'd vote yes on the second border as well since the pattern in the body of the quilt is so large. The second border would seem to help "weight" things. And beautiful job!

littlehud 06-16-2009 07:20 PM

I think it needs another border. By the way, that is a beautiful quilt.

butterflywing 06-18-2009 02:00 PM

yep

sandpat 06-18-2009 02:12 PM

Awww heck Pam, just send the whole darn thing to me...I'll add the second border....I'll send it back...honest!

pittsburgpam 06-18-2009 03:23 PM

I'm sure you could be trusted to send it back! :D

I'll do the other border when I get up the energy and desire to do it.

I order the fabrics last night to do another one in blue and brown. Then I started playing around with the placement of the pieces. Some interesting possibilities but nothing that wows me yet.

mar32428 06-18-2009 03:38 PM

Hey, Pam. It's beautiful but I vote for a second border for more balance.

Don't I look very trustworthy to you???

So...did you break down and order the C/T's fab? I love that collection. I swear that I'm not going to order more fabric for this month's Visa bill...I almost had a heart attack when I opened my most recent bill  So...I'm just gonna wait and get wowed by yours!!
