I'm sew confused...

From time to time the fabric companies come up with a fabric that is... interesting... but that I have no ideas what to do with it.
So here are pictures of five fabrics that have me stumped. Any ideas? Do they fire up your creativity? |
No ideas, but where did you find these...I'm looking for something for an attorney's office....bookshelves...etc...your help would be appreciated
First two could be a stack and whack and the wish bone could be for a border. next two ???????????
I'll bet you will get some neat ideas here . Lots of talent on this board. |
The marshmallows would make a good filler fabric - the can tops cut up small would work also as a filler with some interesting details :) the rest not really sure what they were thinking ..... LOL
OOOOH love those. the wishbones could be on a turkey/thankgiving quilt. Marshmello could be on a cook or cake or cup cake quilt, kaboom could be on a kids quilt. crime fighters quilt, you could use the can on a quilt with the orange and black flames material due to them being energy drinks or a racing quilt love them. good luck
You could always use them for backings on fun kids or holiday quilts. I think teenage boys would love a quilt with the energy drink cans. You could make a cocoa mug quilt and back it with the marshmallows. My 4 year old grandson would love a super hero cape lined with the bam, pow fabric. Peggy
Umm - not at all! Meghan
The Kaboom and cans fabrics scream P.J. bottoms to me. Kaboom for the younger, energy drink cans for the high school to college age and can tops for college age and up (because it reminds me of beer cans).
The cans would also make great quilts for the student heading off to dorm life! The wishbones are spread far apart so I'm thinking a backing or kitchen accessory and the marshmallows would also be good for kitchen accessories. |
I spy quilts for kids?
I agree with charity-crafter ... all would be great in I-Spy quilts. I also like the wishbone and marshmallow fabrics to use in jar quilts. I'm not sure they'll be big sellers in any event.
The PBR, professional bull riding, Has the energy drinks as their sponsor's, so it could be used on a "cowboy" rodeo type quilt. Prca, This is all around rodeo from roping to bronc riding also is endorsed by these brands/drinks. Other than that I think these are very challenging fabric and aren't for everyday type of quilting.
I don't know, but the marshmallows make me want a snack. Lol

(I would not make a very good "diet buddy"!) |
They would all look neat in an eye spy quilt.
The cans would make a great "guy" quilt. The wishbones and the marshmallows are light enough to read neutral in a lot of quilt patterns. The Kaboom would look great paired with Superman or Spiderman fabric for a young boy's quilt in Square in a Square or Warm Wishes.

I think the marshmallows would make a great backing for a black and white quilt.
I like the ka-boom one.
Maybe because that's the mood I'm in today? |
I want a 5" square of every one of them for my I-spy quilt I'll be working on soon.
Marshmallows would go well with snowmen or winter scene; can tops and cans as borders, and the wishbones ??? Sorry, that's all I have.
Wishbones could be used in a Thanksgiving quilt. the kaboom pow is actually quite nice for young boys. I would use it in a super cape and a quilt, even a pillowcase. The marshmallows could go in a jar quilt with others foods, maybe a pillowcase. Any of them would be fantastic in an I spy quilt. That is what comes to my mind first.
I love to see everyone else's ideas!!! |
Any graphic comics fan would love the ZAP! KABOOM! etc. fabric. Remember the visual effects in the old black and white Batman and Robin series? This fabric could be used for anything! The rest don't interest me, but might interest someone else.
Could you tell me the manufacuter of the crushed cans fabric, so I can ask at my LQS.
The kaboom, etc. would work well for pillowcases for superhero fans...I remember those words flashing on the TV screen when Batman was on in the '60's.
Maybe the energy drink for college students for pillowcases for the dorm. |
The cans would make a great kaleidoscope quilt. Marshmallows & s'mores would be good backing for a camping-themed quilt. Wishbones would be good for Thanksgiving or chicken/rooster themed quilt. Didn't someone here recently post about a Marvel comics quilt she was making for her husband? The Kaboom fabric would have been great for that? No ideas for the can tops, other than all would work for inclusion in I Spy quilts.
I love the second one....That's a military mans survival fabric there!! Military men live off of energy drinks how do you think they fuction? I would buy that!! I want to make a man quilt for my DH with all the things he loves for the field and deployment!
I too thought the 1st 2 and the kaboom fabric would make a great OBW.
I wonder about that too! I imagine fabric designers sitting in a board room showing off their designs and other people around the table commenting: that needs to be greyed down a little, or that would sell well. And I can't imagine how what criterion they are using! That's not a comment referring to these in particular, however.
None of them do anything for me, sorry.
I got a catalogue from connecting threads yesterday, and they have fabric with books.
OMG! No - no ideas at all. You wouldn't catch a one of them in my stash! Guess that means some people will buy anything. A smores quilt?
Love the marshmello fabric.
Both of my sons would love any of these fabrics. They are just as odd as your fabrics. But I've no clue what I would do with them.
I think the cans would be a good Kaleidoscope
The mason jar (bug/candy jar) quilt could be made with the marshmallows. I love the first two fabrics and would use them in a border. The wishbone fabric is boring IMHO. Where did you get the crushed can fabric?
I would use the marshmallow fabric for something camping themed. Maybe for the 'filling' of a s'mores quilt? Stack some fabric that looks like graham crackers and some that looks like chocolate? A quick, simple quilt that you can pair with other camping themed fabrics.
I love novelty fabrics and don't have any of these. You could use the cans (view from top) in blocks with some solids. Then I would cut the other cans in lengths for a border. Just go wild with your imagination!
I have no ideas. I am like you it takes some one else to get me to thinking.
