I told him that I would finish it for him, he have been nice and waited until I learned what to do. We received 30 flowers that were all slightly different in size and construction. We went thru a few different layouts, and this is the style he chose. The black border around every flower is for missing his family, both parents and his grandparents have been gone for many years. The green path between the flower is for the future and represents solid ground.

I have 12 of the flower framed with the black hex’s the 7 shown are completely stitched together. Thanks to this board I found an easy way to finish the project. A small bottle of Elmer’s glue! I do the black rings in the traditional paper piece method then I starch the ring well. I found that removing paper pieces from the ring then laying the ring over the flower trying to match as many points as possible then I use the glue and my iron to fix the flowers in place while I sew. The method seems to work very well, I used the same method to attach the green diamonds. I figure about 2 years and it may be ready to sandwich and quilt.

Since I still have 18 flowers to complete I am glad I find the hand work to be very relaxing, and the black hex’s I can take with me in a small plastic box. This is my project to do when I need some quiet time. The hand work requires very little thought to what I am doing so I can listen to a good book or have a nice conversation while getting some thing accomplished.

Thank you all, I have learned so much in this board about quilting. It has given be the confidence to finish some of the UFO we ended up with.
