Ink blot begone

2 Attachment(s)
Someone (temporarily in the doghouse) left a book bag with an accidentally uncapped ink pen on my log cabin cushion, and it bled all over a few of logs. Ugh. Tried washing, of course, didn't work. Took quite a bit of unstitching and restitching, but the cushion cover is good as new/old again.

Nice fix! Can the culprit come out of the doghouse yet?

craftynell 06-25-2013 10:06 AM

Love the cushion. Nice job.

IMHO, that 'person' (most beloved, I'm sure) needs to make some serious restitution for their actions. --- Jane

PS - - the bench cushion looks great! ---- Jane

Great repair/save!

Kind of a PIDA to do though?

Annie68 06-25-2013 11:11 AM

Nice fix, gorgeous cushion!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 06-25-2013 11:13 AM

I'm sorry it happened, but I'm glad it caused you to share your cushion. It is beautiful and I have that bench, too, so I may have another project.

Yeah. Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and do it, you know? :)

And thanks, everyone.

QuiltnNan 06-25-2013 12:01 PM

looks perfect

Tweety2911 06-25-2013 12:16 PM

Beautiful cushion and so glad you were able to save it. I think the "someone" feels really bad and needs a hug ;)

redquilter 06-25-2013 02:33 PM

Love the cushion and you did some job on the repair. Is all forgiven?

sewnsewer2 06-25-2013 03:27 PM

EEEEKKK! I would have had a fit! I'm glad you got it corrected.

Baloonatic 06-25-2013 05:06 PM

Oh I would have been upset too, that's a beautiful cushion!! Did you try some rubbing alcohol? And I've gotten great results from hairspray too...spray it on the ink, let dry, and launder.

GKSM 06-25-2013 05:09 PM

Love the bench cushion!! Thinking it will look great on my deacon bench. Hmm - another project on the list.

Auntevie 06-25-2013 05:43 PM

Oh my gosh..... Love love love your bench cushion!

joyce888 06-25-2013 05:50 PM

Gorgeous cushion. Hope there's not a next time but if so try using a cheap hair spray to remove ink - it works.

alikat110 06-25-2013 06:59 PM

Kudos on the repair....love, love, love the cushion....

Beach Bum Quilter 06-25-2013 07:05 PM

Beautiful bench & cushion! So inspiring!!

Painiacs 06-25-2013 09:25 PM

Beautiful! Like they said cheap hair spray! Also amway pretreater! Gets all kinds stufc out! Have had neighbors come over not to borrowcup of sugar but a spritz of pretreater! Can buy it online!!

DOTTYMO 06-25-2013 11:41 PM

Did you try milk to remove it. I'm not sure why but it did remove some inks from my father's shirt pocket sometimes.

Gigilaff 06-26-2013 02:57 AM

If this happens again, Heaven forbid, try using rubbing alcohol to remove it. Keep blotting it, usually removes most if not all. Love the cushion.

Boston1954 06-26-2013 03:03 AM

I think he/she should take you out to lunch, and then to a fabric shop. That'll teach 'em.

ArtsyOne 06-26-2013 04:01 AM

Boston1954 has a great idea - have the culprit take you shopping at the local fabric shop. You did a beautiful job of repairing - no one would know!

gabeway 06-26-2013 04:07 AM

Great save!

Cris 06-26-2013 04:10 AM

Love the cushion, glad you were able to remove the ink!!!

Quilter 65 06-26-2013 05:01 AM

That is a seriously pretty cushion. I can sure see why someone could be in the doghouse after that. Looks like you are a good "fixer" and no one can tell it now. Very nice.

mighty 06-26-2013 06:05 AM

Great fix!!!!!

Battle Axe 06-27-2013 02:51 AM

So how did you make that beautiful cushion? What's in the middle and is there a zipper somewhere to be able to take it to the washing machine?

Inquiring minds (me) wants to know.

Marcia

Fixes are so satisfying even if they are really trying in the doing. Nice jobs.

Try windex on ink stains. it can take care of marker ink too, unless it is the permanent kind. At the very least, it can soften it some...You did a great job on the repair!

twinkie 06-27-2013 03:35 AM

Great save on the cushion. Perhaps the person responsible for the "accident" should have helped you in fixing it. LOL

hpylady 06-27-2013 03:47 AM

I just love! It is so neat! Just beautiful!

homecaregiver 06-27-2013 04:07 AM

I also love your bench cushion.

Retired Fire Chief 06-27-2013 04:07 AM

It was well worth the effort, love your cushion. My first attempt at log cabin blocks was a disaster so they are on the bottom of the "fix it" list.

ccthomas 06-27-2013 05:38 AM

So glad you were able to make the cushion beautiful again.

maryb119 06-27-2013 05:43 AM

A disaster gone right...your repair is beautiful. Love the bench and cushion.

callie 06-27-2013 05:43 AM

Great job of fixing this cushion. Sometimes we are the ones that learn a lesson when being forced to fix something. Hope the "puppy" (LOL) is out of the dog house!

TnBecky 06-27-2013 05:47 AM

Beautiful cushion, almost to pretty to sit on.
