They have only just started doing take aways here as well and you have to be inside a certain perameter, and definately not up a mountain LOL. Usually youhave to go to get your take away here, but we are now very modern with Indian, Thai, and Chinese food, all of which I love, we even have real fish and chips YUM

Hi Elle! Yes, my parents go to Spain (near Alicante) a couple of times a year as my uncle has a villa there, and they say that. We have a fish and chip van in the village once a week but it ain't great and there used to be a curry van which was really good but it seems to have packed in. Still, soon be in Somerset and there, they'll deliver EVERYTHING! :mrgreen:

I have to point out, that is only very recently that the old take away has become famous in this part of Spain. when I first came here there was nothing, so its still a bit of a novelty. Alicante is quite a large area compared to here.

I'm wondering...by take away..do you mean like home delivery? or just carry out..like you go pick stuff up at the restaurant and take it home? If its home delivery....don't feel like the lone stanger because where I live there is NO delivery either. I guess they think that people who live where the sunshine has to be piped in don't eat :roll: We do have carry out though... :wink:

Yes Patti, Take Away is what you call carry out. Home delivery is practically unheard of in this area, although I do think that the Pizza guys have got their act together, but I am not into Pizza.

OK, I got an update from JoeAnn last night. After a month and a half of trying to get her doctor to take her seriously about her severe arm pain, she had an MRI last week. The MD called this evening to say that she has several severely herniated and bulging discs in her neck and that she was referring her to a neurosurgeon STAT for surgery. Poor JoeAnn was a better woman than I would have been, she didn't remind the doc that this had been going on as long as it had. :hunf: I also told her that if she were a dog, she'd be blind, have three legs!

Anyhow, I finished k3n's center. I'm having to hide it from Mom. She actually stole it off my sewing table and tried to hide it and keep it! :shock: But I have it safely boxed up and will mail it to Esqmommy this morning.

K3n is in the process of moving back to Britain, and won't have internet access for another week or two. She FORBADE me to post unless she saw it first, so that's why I posted the unfinished round before. This is complete! Whew. That was a lot of petals!! LOL

Gai, that is really lovely and goes so well with the centre. Well done I love it.

OK, well, I know this is round 4, and these are round 3 photos, but I didn't want them to get lost. Here is Esqmommy's center. I was waffling about whether to make HST's to pull the center design out, so went down to the LQS for a consult. LOL. It was pretty unanimous that what was needed at this point was something simple. Mom had found this fabric at Hobby Lobby and it matched the floral in the geese perfectly. The center floral is lilies, but it is REALLY close to them too. So I put just a plain border on, and I really like the effect. I don't think the colors show too well, but it's overcast today with rain. I hope you like it Esq. It's going to come to you for you to arrange the last round, since JoeAnn had to drop out due to health issues.

P.S. After the sunflowers, this went on so fast my head was spinning! LOL. What a difference!

Thanks Elle. It really looks so much better in person. I don't think the photos show it well. But I'm happy with it. And Mom wants to keep this one too!! LOL This one was such a breeze after the sunflowers. The hardest part (and it's not hard) was mitering the corners! :P

P.S. You can't see it in the photo, but there was a teeny difference in the blacks in the background of the florals, and Mel's black. So I have a quarter-inch of a green that matches Patti's applique in between. Remind me NEVER to do another quarter inch sashing!! :shock: :roll: :lol:

Update on the takeaway situation for anyone whose interested - we can have pizza and kebabs delivered but for Chinese, Thai, Indian and fish and chips, burgers etc, we have to drive 2 miles into town to pick it up! What a drag! And my new oven hasn't arrived yet so it's take aways or microwave at the moment, plus we invested in a gas bbq so burgers, sausages, steaks and salad as well! So we won't starve! In fact, I may phone the oven suppliers and cancel the order! Kidding! :mrgreen: :lol:

I have FINALLY opened up my completed top...it's not getting the last round, but that's fine because it's BEAUTIFUL!!! Each and every one of you did such a fantastic job.

I know I've been MIA, and probably will be for a bit more..things are just darn hard for me right now, BUT....I am so totally blown away by the beautiful detail and careful thought put into the various designs and fabric choices.
Each of you made such a wonderful contribution and I'll treasure it forever!
