Awww... I thought I would be done tonight but I found out that I didn't cut off enough of a fabric from the yardage in my stash. I cut off some more and popped it in the wash.

That's ok since there are other steps to do with what I have sewn on already. :-D I just need to find some cardboard....

The second row on Gwen's center is done. I wanted to keep with the theme/style of her center as it is so personal to her. I found the closest match I could to the red hearts and did the applique in the same style. The border fabric is a lattice pattern with flowers that I thought would go around the garden they were married in.

And Bluebirds of happiness celebrating.

Oh wow, Pam! That could not be any more perfect. It's wonderful!

KGoodhand 02-10-2010 05:17 AM

That is the perfect next row for Gywn's center! Great work!

sandpat 02-10-2010 06:02 AM

That is absolutely perfect for the center! Fantastic job Pam!

Gwyn 02-10-2010 07:48 AM

Pam: You nailed it! I love my quilt. What a beautiful boarder. You are totally awesome. My quilt is going to be 100 times more wonderful than I had ever imagined. YOu picked exactly the right thing. I'll never be able to thank you ladies enough. Gwyn

pittsburgpam 02-10-2010 08:26 AM

I am SO glad you like it. :-) I kept going back and forth about it being too plain, I changed the border fabric a few times, etc. etc. I finally decided to do simple. I also did tests of blanket stitch to match the size and width of your applique so that it looked the same.

Gwyn 02-10-2010 08:30 AM

I have a story for you guys. I am working on blueribbontoes' quilt. Two weeks ago, I went to the store and bought the fabric and some embellishments to use to complete my assignment. When I got home, I went to find the center and put it into the bin where I keep current projects. THE QUILT TOP WAS GONE!!! My family and I have torn our house apart and searched every single corner. No quilt top. I haven't slept for 3 days worrying. After finally finishing the last space in our house, I decided I would have to own-up and use the picture to make another center and round 1. The on-line store didn't use paypal so I had to wait until today before I could even order. I was going to be sooooooooo late. I felt just aweful.

As I sat down to write my confession and ask for some extra days, I noticed a white envelope in one of the new bins I have for fabric. Not even believing the quilt top could be there, I went on to look at my email and find a fabric shop with batik fabrics so I could order replacement fabric.

Suddenly, I couldn't stand it anymore, I pulled out the bin and opened it. Sure enough, there was the beautiful quilt top - in a white envelope (we had been looking for a yellow envelope). I am so thankful at finding this beautiful quilt.

The upshot of this ordeal is: My House Is Clean! We took 10 van loads of stuff to the local thrift store. Shampooed the carpets, threw out old cleaners and found the floor in my bedroom. My son's closet is now able to close its doors and all my fabrics are in clear stacking bins with lids.

Now, I need a cup of coffee and then I"ll get on this beautiful quilt top. Never fear, I won't lose it again! We are under control.

pittsburgpam 02-10-2010 09:23 AM

Oh Gwyn, I can hardly imagine how upsetting that must have been! I am so glad that you found it and that you got your house straightened up in the process. :-D

I didn't tell anyone but sandpat but your center was lost again by my post office for a bit. I got the notice in my mailbox that I had to sign for a package and I went to the post office the next day. They couldn't find it! I called again that afternoon, it still wasn't found. I was so worried. It finally turned up after they said it was at their "other" station instead of the one that is just blocks from my house.

Gwyn 02-10-2010 02:14 PM

That center is really trying to get away from all of us. HOpefully, when I get it back and quilted, it will stay on the bed!

Losing BRT center in my house was scarry. I have 2 grandsons who get into my fabric and play around when I'm doing my school work. Plus, it was during that after Christmas, put stuff away period. I was really worried someone had thrown it away without thinking. Last night several of my adult children came over and took each room, turning them over again and again. When I sat down and saw that envelope right there in the bin, I just cried. I have to make lots of cheesecake for valentine's day as pay off for helping me last night, but I don't care. Having our huge, 7 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2 car garage, kitchen and dining room, and my living room clean and organized is wonderful. It hasn't been this nice for years! We got rid of so much stuff, garbage and found lost stuff - including my jewelry box. This weekend we are going to paint! All the kids are coming over again and each couple taking a room or two and we are going to get it done! I'm going to watch grandchildren at my daughter's house so they won't be in the way. Whoo, who! Finally...

Thank you for the complement.

Today I found the inspiration for the undersea quilt. HOpe it works out and everyone likes it.

I just have to ask. What is your inspiration? I am making an undersea quilt also. Got my idea from one I saw in the Dallas quilt show and some online. I have the background together. it is diamonds. I am now doing the applique, seaweed, shells, fish, dolphin, turtles, mermaid, seahorse, treasure trunk, jellyfish, octupus, etc. Would love to see your inspiration

sandpat 02-10-2010 04:47 PM

Gwyn...Sorry, but I am sitting here just laughing away! I have done that exact same thing..with several different things!!! DH gets sooo upset when I do it, but I don't actually lose things...they just get misplaced and good golly....it is HORRIBLE...oh...the worry, the angst...but girl....you got a clean house! Mine usually ends up looking like a bomb exploded    But...I'm really glad you found it :-D

JUNEC 02-10-2010 04:57 PM

Just awesome

Gwyn 02-11-2010 09:17 AM

Our house already looked like the bomb had gone off. The most expedient way to find anything was to go one piece at a time. If I have to go to that much work, I might as well have sorted into keep, trash or give away piles. The kids were so excited to see the house getting cleaned up, they all pitched in. Painting was my pay back for all the hard work. I didn't laugh until it was over. Never again will I procrastinate on someone elses work. I've learned my lesson!

Ducky 02-11-2010 09:32 AM

I would have nothing short of a massive coronary if I thought I lost someone's center. Sooooo glad you found it, Gwyn, and I'm truly jealous of the cleaning you had done.

KGoodhand 02-12-2010 04:53 AM

I jsut wanted to let you know Pam that I will be just a little late mailing out this round. The whole house was sick and I thought I had missed it but surprisingly mommy got it too! It just knocks you off your feet! I am on the mend and hopefully will be able to get more sewing done this weekend. Thanks for being understanding.

sandpat 02-14-2010 04:41 PM

Ladies, please be sure you let me know when you mail out and recieve. And after all the borders for this round have been posted, I will start a picture thread and add it to the virtual section.

The center that Elle has will be a little late being mailed due to health related issues. We will get it back on track as soon as we can. Please keep her and Colin in your prayers and thoughts.

pittsburgpam 02-14-2010 10:18 PM

Kendra, it's ok about the delay. Which center is it? (I could probably figure it out from the group mailing list). Of course it depends on what you do with it but I can start thinking of some designs and fabric choices.

pittsburgpam 02-15-2010 12:12 PM

I went to my building mail room and it's closed... President's Day. I looked up US post offices and they're closed today too.

It will have to wait until tomorrow.

I have Elle's center. A couple more days and it should be ready to go! I will let you know for sure when it goes out!

Gwyn 02-26-2010 01:36 AM

Lost the quilt, part 2. Yeah, I found the quilt top. But, when I reached for the supplies I had purchased, they were gone. There is no telling where they are. So...I found some different fabric on line and ordered it. Unfortunately, it didn't arrive until Monday. By some miracle, it matches the aqua blue/green in the center. I have all but one boarder panel attached. I have worked on it for about 48 hour without sleep. So far, so good, but I think I will finish in the morning. I'll post a picture as soon as it is finished and then I'll get it in the mail on Monday morning. I'm so excited, I can't wait to see it and hear what you all think.

sandpat 02-26-2010 05:38 AM

Yippeee!!!! Pics are coming!!! I can't WAIT to see what you are doing Gwyn! And that fabric will turn up....just as soon as you get back from the PO...you know that, right????

Okay, the saga of the undersea quilt is coming to an end. It will be in the mail and on its way to kgoodhand on Monday. I hope everyone likes what I have done. The corner pictures are beads and buttons in the shape of shells. I still need to trim the outer edges and threads, but I think you can get the general idea. Do I need to change anything? This has been a nerve wracking experience, but it was fun.
