This has been about 2 years in the making.... there are 3923 2" squares! Thanks for looking!

Mariposa 06-07-2016 08:03 AM

Love this! Nice work. Is there a pattern source you could share, or is this your own design-? :):)

Jane Quilter 06-07-2016 08:08 AM

beautiful. can we have a close up? what size are the squares? Did you do this in strips? what is the final size? Hungry for more info on your masterpiece.

LeslieSusan 06-07-2016 08:15 AM

Gorgeous quilt, well done. What always impresses me is the quilters who keep count and know to the scrap how many pieces they have used in their project. I would be just cutting and cutting and cutting.

Jane, those are 2" squares if I read her post correctly. Judging by a book I still own, I would indeed guess that this is quilt is indeed done in sections. Kind of like a sideways row quilt. I just love these.

Tartan 06-07-2016 08:23 AM

Wow that's a lot of 2 inch squares! Gorgeous!

i may be wrong but I see not blocks but vertical rows of diagonal strips (each strip ending in a hst) sewn to the length desired, then these pieced strips sewn together to make the body of the quilt....maybe someone else sees it differently?..

..or- just took another look- staggered four patch with hsts on end? Whatever! the finished quilt is great! Hope she tells how she did it!

dinlauren 06-08-2016 05:24 AM

That amazes me. I have just started working on scrappies, but they had to be very controlled. Now i'm cutting 3", 4" and 5" squares as well as strips to make some scrappies in the future. The strips will be for strip blocks and I'll sash them with black. Can't wait to finish going through this huge bag of scraps and get started. You did an amazing job.

nativetexan 06-08-2016 05:50 AM

OH my goodness . beautiful!! did you put it together on point? lots of work!

Quilter 65 06-08-2016 06:26 AM

And the stick-to-it award goes to.......you! As others stated, way more patience than I will ever have.

Jo Anne B. 06-08-2016 06:59 AM

That is a treasure! Agreed, I don't see me ever having the patience to produce such a beauty.

Evie 06-08-2016 07:07 AM

I love it! How big is the quilt? Squares: 2" to begin with or 2" finished?
