It's done!
 

Thanks to reading this message board I had the courage to purchase a new sewing machine. For a "practice quilt" to get started I did a quick strip quilt that I saw on this site. Its done and I am so excited because this is the first quilt that I did completely on a sewing machine! I have to show someone because my family just don't get it ;) If I do the upload correctly I will be sharing my pictures

very neat quilt I had to look really close at the border, It looked like a yarn fringe but I see it's a ruffled fabric. Way cool colors.

Great job on your first quilt. My mom says all that cutting up of fabric and sewing it back together would make her a nervous wreck. I guess I get my love of fabric and sewing from my grandmothers and great grandmother.

Thanks everyone for your responses. The ruffle was easy but I wish I would have made it a little less "ruffly" (is that a word) - - I will know next time. I love looking at everyone else's pictures too... good for inspiration and encouragment. Next I am working on memory quilts - - we lost my nephew in an accident and I have some of his clothes. I am going to make quilts for his little brother, little sister and mom and dad.....

I am glad that you have a good machine and that you get along so well with it.
