It's Not a Crib Quilt Anymore...

I started this thread when I had put together a bunch of rejected audition blocks: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t173278.html It was a crib size, and I asked if it would be appropriate for a baby.

I had some fabric left over and decided that I would put a scrappy checkerboard border around it to make it into a lap-size quilt. I'm going to put it over my couch in the living room. The blues match my wall pretty well.

This is the first quilt that I did all of the quilting on my domestic machine. It's mostly stitch-in-the-ditch, but I did timidly venture into a bit of free motion. The vine was fun to do. I may try feathers on my next quilt. :)

THAT my dear, is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! WoW! Love the colors you used and the way you put it all together...it would have been such a waste in a crib! Love it on your sofa!

barny 02-01-2012 05:39 PM

I really, really like it. Pretty design too. You did good! Barny

Wow!! Your quilt is great. I love the way it is off balance in design. It almost looks like a huge compass in the middle of a group of constellations. Great design. Your quilting is great too. Congrats!

I'm glad it found a home on your couch ... it is a beautifully creative pattern in superb colors and the stitching is fantastic!

Is there a pattern for it? I really think it is a neat quilt and I'm making graduation quilts (3 this year for gkids).

Missed the earlier posts re your quilt. It's beautiful. Is it your own design? It's very artistic and yet traditional.

LOL! :) That baby will just have to come over to my house and snuggle with me on the couch!

No pattern... I just rearranged the rejected audition blocks until I liked the design. There were alot of four-inch blocks left over because I couldn't make up my mind on which fabrics to use where on the original quilt.

Wow! Three graduation quilts! I'd never get them finished in time. Godspeed!

Are you asking if the original quilt from my earlier post is my own design.? Yes, the original quilt is made up of alternating Garden Square blocks and a variation of 54/40 or Fight blocks. This lap quilt is a combination of four-inch leftover audition blocks from that project.

sewbeadit 02-02-2012 04:11 AM
