WOW!!! What a beauty she is!

quilter1430 08-01-2011 02:19 PM

Beautiful machine! I can't remember seeing another one like it.

sarahrachel 08-01-2011 02:22 PM

I hate to say it ladies, but I put her back in the closet with a tablecloth over the cabinet. I don't want my mom knowing I was pulling out the sewing machine instead of doing chores. And the fact that there will be a lot of dust in my room and she seems safer back there where nothing will accidentally hit her. But I think I'll name her Pearl after my grandma. She'll just have to sit tight a little bit longer!

BrandyMcCoy 08-01-2011 02:41 PM

What a beautiful machine. I have a portable Dressmaker
machine bought in 1970. I wonder if it is the same machine.
This one is a basic but has made lots of slipcovers and clothing.
My daughter has it now. Still works like a charm.
It is a heavy machine. Not one to carry around unless you have a strong arm. Yes it is in a carrying case.

Yooper32 08-02-2011 03:22 AM

Looks like a treasure to me. Lucky you.

Debbr63 08-02-2011 03:55 AM

Good catch...I had read it as "Dressmaker"... s'ok tho, it's still made by White! :)

jgriinke 08-02-2011 04:58 AM

Glad that she made it out of the attic. She is way too pretty to spend any more time there alone.

jeanneb52 08-02-2011 05:29 AM

Take her home and love her. Grandma tucked her away for you to find.

Jennifer22206 08-02-2011 05:31 AM

Beautiful, take it home and try it out:)

nana2 08-02-2011 06:49 AM

I would just bet that she sews!!!!!!! I have my mother's White. It was bought in 1958, I found the sales ticket. In fact I get better results with FMQ with her than my "fancy" machines.

southernmema 08-02-2011 06:53 AM

I'm so happy that you found her. She was just waiting for you, cause she needed someone to cherish her!

bobbie1 08-02-2011 07:44 AM

Wow! What a find!!

jpthequilter 08-02-2011 07:49 AM

Be aware that summer heat in an attic can destroy inner parts of a sewing machine, so if it doesn't work, well,
that is the way it goes sometimes....

sarahrachel 08-02-2011 08:14 AM

I plan on pulling her out this afternoon so wish me luck!!

harrishs 08-02-2011 08:41 AM

IBQUILTIN 08-02-2011 10:46 AM

How wonderful. Aren't you glad that someone who didn't know didn't put her in a yard sale?

Grandma Peg 08-02-2011 12:45 PM

Good for you.

chickadee 08-02-2011 12:57 PM

Wow. I bought one just like that at a yard sale last month for 25.00 and it is in a cabinet just like yours too, but, I don't have an instruction book. I have plenty of attachments but no instruction book. I named mine Marlena for the friend I bought it from.
