I've been asked to post pictures of my DJ journey

I started by doing just a cream and red Dear Jane as that is the current color scheme of my bedroom. By week 3, I decided to add a scrappy DJ. After seeing a background fabric that I really liked, I decided to add a 3rd DJ by week 4. We are on week 7 now. My blocks are 4.5" finished Thanks for looking. Here are the pics:

oh my, they are wonderful. my favorite is the scrappy one, it seems to make the blocks more interesting than just the 2 color one (but it is wonderful and very old fashioned looking)

Amazing how the fabrics change the block appearance. Beautiful work!

Nice work. Goodness, cannot believe you are doing so many variations. Does it get easier if you do a block a 2nd, 3rd, etc. time? They sure are nice. I thought I'd signed up for updates on DJ....am working them along the schedule posted. Will have to research to see what I'm to be doing. :)
Wow -- making 3 at one time... I felt luck to complete the 225 block, tris and corners...I keep watching what everyone is doing --- and I know I will get motived to cut my sashings and begin to join blocks. I worked every week - completed at least one block and one tri... took me one year and one week. Thank you for sharing your ideas - great work

And here I sit, trying to decide if I can be precise enough to begin a Dear Jane with all of those tiny little pieces. Your blocks are magical and will be heirlooms for your family for generations. Your use of color is excellent and your ambition is immense. Best of luck funishing them all.
Wow - I can't in my wildest dreams imagine doing Three DJ quilts at one time. It took me 17 months just to do one. Your blocks and triangles look great - all these will be beautiful when completed.
very very nice, how did you cut the circles?
Like the quilt. Can't wait to see the finished project.
Thanks for sharing :):):) |

your blocks are so beautiful. i have appliqued about 25 or so and stopped when i saw all those tiny ones to piece.
Your are doing a wonderful job Nancy and making great progress! I love that your DJ is going to be completely unique and yours.
What a fabulous job you are doing. I like scrappy ones best, but then I like scrappy quilts. Be sure to keep up updated on the progress of your quilt. I'm also doing a scrappy DJ and have about 2-1/2 rows to make of blocks and then I can finish putting the rows together and sashing them. I love this quilt as I can sit by the TV and sew the pieces together. It will be completely hand sewn and quilted. I call it my heirloom quilt and hope my girls will treat it as such.

those are stunning , great work !!
Wow you are sooooo talented! I am not skilled enough to try a dear Jane but you sure make me want to try!
I like the use of the prints.
I like the second one ....
Very pretty. Love the triangles!
Just so I am sure I have this straight, you are doing not 1, but 3 DJs at once???? Oh my, lol, I am amazed by your skill and bravery. I wouldn't even tackle 1, nevermind 3.
Your work is so lovely, and I too love the scrappy one and the middle one. I am not a big fan of red and white. Well, of white in general. Red is great! LOL Looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful work as you progress. Hugs and smiles!! |
Very interesting, can't wait to see the finished project
I purchased the dear Jane quilt book and as yet, am too intimidated to start. Your blocks are wonderful. I like the traditional as well as the two color. Since I like contrast.... your red/white is my fav. Can't wait to see your quilt all put together!! Thanks for sharing.
They are all so lovely. Carry on having fun with each weeks blocks
