A happy one at that. Beautiful!

Yarn or Fabric 10-22-2010 03:08 AM

Mommy better put that foot pedal on a block lol
She is adorable :)
One out of 3 ain't bad either. That's all my mother got to do anything crafty at all... Yours will probably be different... none of us started until we were older...

deema 10-22-2010 03:44 AM

How sweet!! She did a great job! My daughter is 5 too. I had to put her in a booster seat to reach the machine, then I put the foot pedal on one of her small chairs under the table :) Instead of letting my DD have complete free reign, I chose a bunch of fabs that "could" go together...and let her choose from them. Helped with the cringe factor. LOL

True happiness comes from creating with your own hands....she learned it from you! Such a happy moment. May she have many more.

Never to early to create a new quilter. She's darling and I can't wait til you post pictures of her completed quilt. It appears she's doing a great job on her first attempt. All those corners are matching beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the other 2 are patiently waiting for mommy to have time to sit down with them... They all want to learn!

Very cool!!! My (then) 6 year old g.d. asked for a sewing machine and fabrics and thread, etc. for Christmas last year, and she and I are currently working on her first quilt!!! She can't quite reach the foot pedal either, so I have it sitting on an upside down box so that she can reach it. I man the reverse button, she does the rest!!

My 4 year old g.d. is now asking when SHE gets to sew!

vickimc 10-22-2010 07:05 AM

My son was 5 when he would sit in my lap and sew. he loved the decortive stitches, so we sewed green thread on red fabric. That year I made flip and sew Christmas stockings and used is piece of fabric for the piece accross the heal and ankel. He is 22 now and still loves his stocking. He has gone on to make a small quilt and Indian ribbon shirts for Boy Scouts. I had to help with the sleeves, but he can do it now.

CarrieAnne 10-22-2010 07:09 AM

Aw, love her smile!

Bobbinchick 10-22-2010 07:20 AM

SewExtremeSeams 10-22-2010 07:46 AM

Your daughter's smile says a million words. WoW! How very special to have a willing new seamstress. Please tell her that her squares look great. Can't you just wonder what her future creations will be? Thanks for posting her photo.

Grandma Libby 10-22-2010 07:54 AM

Just precious! You are so lucky....wish I had started quilting sooner so my granddaughter could have gotten in on it! I may still teach her some basics as she is wanting to do a quilt for her best friend...for Christmas. Maybe this will be a good time to get her involved in the action! They're in 10th grade now! Growing up fast!

clawson556 10-22-2010 07:57 AM

WOW! Lucky You! I think she is enjoying it! What great fun yall will have.

BZ quilting 10-22-2010 08:02 AM

That is one happy quilter. I started my granddaughters that young and put the foot pedal on a sturdy box or large books so she could reach it.

Nana Coop 10-22-2010 08:12 AM

Can you put the machine on a child size table so she can work the foot pedal by herself? Wonderful smile and great work!
