Sigh
whenever I see such a beautiful quilt, I think "ooh, I have to try that one day!" Keep making such beauties, I'll never catch up. |
I know it's been said over and over already about your Jacob's Ladder...but WOW!!! That is beyond AWESOME!!! It really is stunning, and the stitch in the ditch sets it off perfectly!!!!

Martina, Very nice job on the Jacob's Ladder quilt. It's beautiful. And there'll always be a place for SID quilting.
|
Just grand! And, very elegant looking.
|
Thank you so much for checking on the name, and your hints. I have it printed off and with scraps. When I find scraps that are prefect together I put them in a zipper baggie thing that sheets, etc. come in along with my pattern ideas.

Beautiful quilt. I want to do a black and white but had not thought about using the black with different color dots. I love that fabric...bought some yesterday!
|
I like that. I like that a lot. Nice contrast. Great pattern

Are you by chance Norwegian? My grandmother used to say uffdah all the time and she was from Bergen, Norway.

The binding turned out GREAT - I used parts of Sharon Schamber's method - except for the glue, and those corners are the perfect miter. Just wish I had the guts to move up from stitch-in-the-ditch quilting. Wow the quilt is just beautiful. The quilting store I use to go to sends out a newsletter every week and they recommended this website. This woman teachs free-motion quilting designs. I watched all her sample videos they were great and she sells CD teaching videos if you want that. She also has some great free patterns that you can use to pratice with. You can stitch over the paper or transfer the design to a sample material. I liked the site maybe you will too. Here it is http://patsythompsondesigns.com/ |

When our first grandson started talking, he named us Omakdaddy and Omakmama ... years of being online has brought it to a shortened version, but fifteen year old grandson still calls us Omakdaddy and Omakmama. Do you know Omak, Washington? |
That is really a neat quilt!

I love B&W quilts. I don't think that I have seen Jacob's Ladder with the windmills. They really pop. You have done an excellent job. It is gorgeous. WooHoo and a Happy Dance.

Yes, my friend Panda Green married someone up there and still lives there. She went to school with me in Spokane and I used to go to Omak with her and the family when we were in about 7th grade. I think her married last name is Dunckel.
|
I vaguely remember the last name, but why or from what, I couldn't tell you.
Besides our five years in Omak, we lived in Mead for five years before that. Could our paths have passed? LOL I love finding out how many times our day to day life and living makes the world a smaller place. Eastern Washington is a wonderful place, though Spokane was a bit more metropolitan than I care to tolerate. Many opportunities there, and I always said that Spokane was the smallest big town I had ever been into. There was a downtown, to be sure, but the city planners had broken the city into areas with lots of trees interspersed. One could never be sure that you were in or out of town. It was a nice town the first time I saw it in 1972, and just as nice when we moved there in 1989. |
Martina - I love those windmills! And SID really makes the pattern stand out so is perfect! I hang WIPs over my bannister too - and i take your tip onboard about the wine before quilting!
|
Wow!!! I love them.

I like some parts of Spokane. My sister lived in a huge house in Mead for a while. I think she got a divorce and moved out. Way too big of a house for one person. She lives in Newport, Idaho part of the year with her new hubby and the rest of the year in a condo she had built in Mexico. She put a bldg up with 4 condo's and sold two of them before they were even finished. She saved one for her friend and one for her and hubby. Nice to have money.. My neice and nephew lived in Mead too with their mother. Don't know her new name but the kids last name is Morris. Ben and his girlfriend moved to Spokane and I just made a baby quilt for their 6 month old baby. They didn't even tell my brother they were gonna have a baby. She was 6 months old when he found out about it. He ran into them at a bus stop in Spokane and the baby was with them. Bad deal for grandpa. I imagine our paths did cross in one way or another.

I LOVE it!!! The floating windmills are awesome.
|
WOW!! Mad I love all of them, but the Jacob's ladder is Beautiful!!! Well done!
|
That is really beautiful, it looks just perfect! I love the Sharon Schamber binding method too but I did use the glue. No stretching things out when running them through the machine.
Your quilt is just lovely. |
Beautiful quilt! The blue and white is very crisp, and I love the windmill border, too! I know what you mean about wishing your could move beyong stitch in the ditch--I feel the same way. But it gets the job done!
|
really like your top quilt
both are nice |
