Uffdah! finally, my Jacob's Ladder is finished. I love this particular variation because of the floating windmills. I also used ALL stash for this one. Not a FQ needed to be bought.

The binding turned out GREAT - I used parts of Sharon Schamber's method - except for the glue, and those corners are the perfect miter.

Just wish I had the guts to move up from stitch-in-the-ditch quilting.

Here is what currently hangs on my banister waiting to be finished.

BTW: the pink square in a square is the result of testing the pattern for whoever was doing the snail trail. It still needs a border which I haven't decided yet.

The ones with the yellow strip started from a 5" charm pack that was gifted to me. I LOVE THAT PATTERN. It will be quilted with a swirly pattern. (I promised myself to branch out)

Oh, and the roll on the side is a pinned and ready-to-quilt Bodacious pattern with black and white music fabric.

Wow - the one with the yellow strips is so great for scraps. What pattern is it? And the BW one is totally stunning. I wouldn't care if all it was was stitch in the ditch - your sewing is great. Thanx for sharing.

you do beautiful work...i really like the floating windmills.... :-)

DebJ 05-30-2009 08:12 PM

Wonderful Jacobs Ladder, it is just absolutely beautiful. I personally would like to do a desent stitch in the ditch. I have a hard time keeping it there all the time.

MadQuilter 05-30-2009 08:34 PM

Thanks for the nice nods, everyone. I am pleased to announce that the Birthday Girl was very happy with her gift. I made it with her blue rocking chair in mind. (The quilt reads black and white but it is actually dark blue, white and burgundy) When she opened the package, she and her daughters immediately allocated a space in the living room. (That's not where the rocking chair lives - lol)

I use the stitch-in-the-ditch foot and drink 1-2 glasses of wine to relax. No more though or it turns into a drunken stroll around the ditch - lol.

OK, the pattern is in the March 2009 "The Quilter" called Orchid Vines.

I had to adjust the math because my center squares were a different size.

Thanks for all the kudos. I hope my head won't swell too much.

Crissie 05-31-2009 10:41 AM

Very attractive... I love this block too...

Martina, your Jacob's Ladder is terrific! Jacob's Ladder is on the upper part of my to-do list.....I think it may have gone straight to the top (after I get my black and white done and mailed to CollettaKay)

Mousie 05-31-2009 03:53 PM

WTG, i love them all. Such a nice crisp look to your jacob's ladder.
I loooove reds and pinks together, and yes, your yellow striped one is great for scraps. woo hoo! and all i know, for now, is st in ditch! and of course, good old crosshatch. I'm in no hurry, happy for now. :D

Thanx for looking up the Orchard Vines pattern. I think it would be easy to make my own pattern. I really liked it and would be so good for scraps. Thanx barnbum for looking up another photo.
