The pattern is Jenny Neimeyer´s Japanese Fans, you can google it on her site and yes it is paper pieced.

I there, if you can paper piece then you will understand the principle of this quilt, but if youhave never paper pieced then this would be challenging. However I am always up for a challenge and never let anyone put you off if you really like this. Did what I did and hand sew them. Even if you don´t want to do them all by hand it will let you understand how each one is sewn.

GO ON have a go. you can always ask for advice I will willingly help you.

Beautiful work. That feeling of inner calm is coming through the pics. Will look forward to the finished result.

Those are really beautiful. I have never known anyone to hand sew and PP at the same time (except for English PP, which is different because you don't sew through the paper). So I have to ask - are you actually hand sewing through the paper? That sounds really difficult. Or have you modified the Niemeyer PP process somehow? (and if you did maybe you should write a book about it).

Hi Dunster,

First let me say that the paper and pattern is already pre- printed that I bought, the paper is very thin and quite easy to sew through. I simply back stitch it all the way through the paper and fabric its not hard at all. I would think if you used the printed paper you get off a printer it would be difficult though, but not with this paper. You can buy this type of paper but ca´t remember what it is called..

Thanks for that Bev. Heres the link to the quilt I am making

www.quiltworx.com

There is an area where others share the quilt they have made with her patterns, worth looking at.

New York Beaty is very similar to Japanese Fans. just a matter of the layout.

Congratulations on the wedding. I hope all goes smoothly.

I can tell you are a dedicated quilter, otherwise you wouldn't be checking the quilting forum while preparing for the wedding!
