Not so much the Irish Lace, and not so much since I moved here either. I taught Bobbin and Needlelace in the UK before I came here, but couldn't find any Irish lacemakers in my area here, and there isn't the same sort of system for recreational classes as in the UK, so I switched to my second love of quilting, and found a great group to join.

They are absolutely lovely. Sewing by hand?? wow. And I thought I was crazy for all my handquilting. I draw the line at piecing by hand.

I always love to see pics of your latest projects. They are always beautiful and waaay beyond my skills. I can drool and do so a lot whenever you post pics!

Thanks Vicki, but the reason I hand sewed those was because I couldnīt get my head round the PP and this was a slow learning to get them right.

The fabrics are gorgeous to work with.

Donīt usually hand sew but these were are little daunting to start with and that was the reason. Like it so much as it helps me to relax in the evening. Thanks for your lovely comments.

Me patient, not really, just find this kind of relaxing, the PP was kind of daunting at first have to admit, will start some borders next to give me a change of work.

Ahhh....so you agree!
Ok, just put it to the side so it can wait for me when I come to visit. :)

nellebelles 07-05-2009 11:57 PM

Beautiful job! The piecing by hand may feel daunting to begin with, but by the time you are done, there is such a sense of accomplishment and pride that goes with it. I made a double wedding ring quilt, queen size, completely by hand (pieced and quilted). I love it so much--it took me forever to get it done, but I wouldn't trade all that hard work for anything.
So keep up the good work and enjoy!

Hi Elle,

I don't have a picture of that quilt just yet--I'll have to take one soon and post it. I will do that as soon as our house guests are gone, which I believe will be on Wednesday.

Also, thanks for the compliment on my name. My real name is Ellen, but my dad flipped it around to be Nelle (long e on the end...) and I just added the belles part for my username for the forum. :-)
