Penny, you did a great job on this quilt. Denim is not an easy fabric to work with so you need to pat yourself on the back. What a wonderful gift :D I really like the pocket detail. Great job

Your quilt is very pretty. You did a nice job. I've never made a jean quilt but I can imagine it would be heavy & hard to move around to quilt.

earthwalker 05-22-2010 11:13 PM

Penny, what a beautiful quilt. I have worked with denim and I know how difficult and heavy it is to manage. Love all the little personal touches and the colour placement. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Gramof6 05-22-2010 11:31 PM

Penny you did a fantastic job on this quilt! Love it. Denim is not the easiest to work with so you do deserve a pat on the back. A huge pat! Job well done for a wonderful quilt.

I thought that the tags hanging from the belt loops was a great original touch. You did a great job.

rein 05-23-2010 07:34 AM

So glad you got your jean material Penny - I just found a pair of my dh's that needed to be retired and was going to ask you if you still needed them. Your quilt turned out really well - SUPER JOB! (never did find the jeans I thought I had around - must be here some place).

MamaBear61 05-23-2010 07:42 AM

Well done and I like the embroidery on the light blocks, great idea.

Quilter2B 05-23-2010 08:14 AM

Thanks Penny for sharing. I like how you scattered your son's name and the tag is just so precious! Great job!!!

Beautiful, and very original. What a job it must have been -- my arms ache just looking at it. I know how hard denim is to work with -- I started one and it sits in it's own box like a monster that needs taming. I love the name on it, the pockets, labels, it's all great. You are no "beginner".

dawn payne 05-23-2010 05:32 PM

Nicely personalized! Truly the "jeanuine article" HA!

You can also make a great rag quilt out of jeans. It really rags up nicely. Great job on the quilt. If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known you were a beginner.

quilterguy27 05-26-2010 12:11 PM

Penny: I just found this thread. So glad you were able to use my jeans. The Boss pocket came off one of my most favorite pair of shorts. It looks great in your quilt. Thanks for sharing the pictures. You did a great job. Can't wait to see more. Great color placement. Can't say your a beginner now, lol!

What an awesome quilt!!

dsb38327 05-31-2010 09:27 AM

Penny, I am so proud of you and the job you did on your son's quilt. I enjoyed the pictures and would like to have seen more closeups so I could have followed your work all over the quilt.
You did such a good job matching the edges of your squares, looks like you seamed, pressed, squared, seamed, pressed. It really shows up in the results of your work.
The way you included light color blocks to enhance the darker blocks is really great. Your embroidery is top of the line and I like the way you slanted the letters.
You did a great job, created a treasure your son will always be proud of and you learned and studied and learned. Good job! Great work and nice quilt!

craftybear 06-24-2010 10:36 PM
