done, This is my first big quilt I have done. I learned how to match corners, and that you don't practice free motion quilting, on a jean quilt. because it is very heavy and hard to handle. and It put me down for three days from pain. I want to thank all you wonderful ladies for donating the jean fabric, and Doug to. He sent me this boss pocket, my son seen that and he said yea because I am the boss, after that I made a tag that slips right in the pocket that says Mon :-D Please look past my mistakes. God bless. Penny

MadQuilter 05-22-2010 10:54 AM

Penny, that is a great quilt. You really did a fabulous job.

bearisgray 05-22-2010 10:57 AM

You did a nice job on the corners (seam intersections) and I really like your color placement.

Denim is challenging to work with - give yourself a pat on the back.

TammyD 05-22-2010 11:01 AM

Well done! The quilt will keep him warm :D

Ditter43 05-22-2010 11:08 AM

:D :D :D :D

oksewglad 05-22-2010 11:16 AM

A great quilt and you did a great job! MQ on a regular quilt is hard enough, but on a denim one it's even harder. I know I've done both!

All Thumbs 05-22-2010 11:30 AM

What a nice jean quilt and such a hard, heavy fabric to muster around the machine to quilt. Looks super. Congrats.

CarrieAnne 05-22-2010 11:32 AM

Penny, I love your quilt! I think you did a great job, too!And the quilting is sure neat!

virtualbernie 05-22-2010 12:29 PM

Beautiful quilt. I know your son will treasure this! Just one question--how heavy is this to wash? :D

Penny, I am sooo happy that you were able to get this together for Jake! You did a great job with selecting and laying out the different shades of the denim. I love the pockets, and the embroidered letters! This is a very handsome and heart-warming quilt.
You are fabulous. Love ya!

I never saw a jean quilt before. It is lovely. Your son is so lucky. Thanks for sharing.

sewcrafty 05-22-2010 01:32 PM

Penny, that's wonderful!!! I know that you like denim, but I happen to have 2 yards of a batik that I'm not going to use (its not my style - more modern) and wondered if you wanted it? If so, PM me and I send it out next week when I get more pkgs out.

no1jan 05-22-2010 02:46 PM

What a great quilt. That will keep him nice and warm.
I can see why you were sore with the free motion quilting, but it was worth it!

You son should be very pleased!

Great job - I have a collection of 6 1/2" jean squares accumulating on the shelf.

The 6 1/2" is the size of my ruler.
