Gorgeous with the white! The black would have muted it and this is just...WOW!

I think you chose right to use the white background instead of black. While I've often admired quilts made with black backgrounds, in this case I'm not sure sure if there would be enough contrast between the dark blue and black. But I'm no expert! Beautiful quilt! Love It!
