Hi all!
A while back, I had a sort out of my scraps as I couldn't close the lids on the bins! I cut everything possible into 2 1/2" squares then started piecing 4 patches and it turned into this! I'm not very good at scrappy - too much of a control freak, so was pleased that it began to fall into groups of blues, reds and yellowy creams, so I could impose some order! I put in the red and cream blocks to give it some unity - I used Rhonda's strip method for the HSTs http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-37915-1.htm Although they were pretty big (finished at 4"), with lots of starch, they worked out fine! Quick too! This is for my son, Joey's bed - he had a quilt already but it's one of my earlier ones and not great! So it will become a picnic rug! For his 'new' one, he chose the border fabric himself from my stash and I FMQd the stars to echo the print. It's got Hobbs 80/20 wadding and an unbleached flannel back. It's 80" x 64" Thanks for looking. :-D |
I love it Great job.

What a great scrappy. I love the border and your quilting is awesome. You did a wonderful job on that quilt. Thanks for sharing with us.
I love the way the quilted stars show up on the backing.
Beautiful quilt and the fmq stars are perfect, for the quilt, and how you've done them. Joey must be so chuffed with this new quilt. Do you now have to do a "new" one for Lily??
That is really great. Not only does the pattern and colors go well together, but the quilting is perfectly coordinated with the back and binding. Now I have more neat ideas for a scrappy because I started digging around and find that I have more scrapes than I realized.
Thanks everyone! Katrine, don't give Lily ideas thanks, she has enough of her own! Eagle Hawk - I'm sure Joey could be persuaded to swap his quilt for that beautiful dog in your avatar!
WOW!! I love it!!

I love it! Scrappy is my favorite!

I too have trouble letting go and being scrappy so I love what you did with the red and cream blocks. That elevates it from scrappy to planned. Love it.
