Awesome pictures! You are a lucky lady to be able to see that view every day!!!
|
We actually had lobsters last night for the 14 yo grandson. They were good!! He goes home on Saturday and then we have a weeks break before 2 - 10 yo girls come for a week. My oldest daughter is coming 8-21 and leaving 8-30. We have had a full house this summer.
You are welcome anytime Loretta - better make it September if you want a bed!!!! |
Beachlady
What stunning views, you are really lucky to see those every morning & evening. Can I come & visit with Loretta please. :D Tisha |
So beautiful!
I know I've asked before, but where in Maine? |
that's it. I'm movin'!
|
Maine is on my list of places to visit some day. My husband has been there - loves it. Beautiful pictures.
|
We used to vacation there alot. Actually, it wouldn't be a full blown vacation, sometimes just weekend trips.
I love New England, but actually a bit partial since I was born and raised there. :) |
Maine is the top state on my want to visit list! Those are some beautiful pictures that I'm thrilled you shared!!! I'm going there someday! I'd love to live by the water! I'd settle for just about anywhere on the East Coast, though. I'm heading North someday, and I'm going to hit all the states up there!
|
beachlady, Now I'm being really snoopy, but is one of those houses yours or are you taking the pic from your deck or?
|
Thanks for sharing your pictures. They are BEAUTIFUL! They make me want to visit Maine, and I had never thought about it before.
|
Great pictures! I'll be there soon!

This is my house - look way to the left - second house in with the floor to ceiling windows. If any of you really want to come, you are welcome.
|
Terri, I am in Scarborough - about 7 miles south of Portland. Our beach is almost a mile long with a river on the north and lots of rock formations on the south. Great playing areas for all ages! Great fishing from shore or boat. Great surfing too. Water is cold, but most people wear wetsuits now. Our tide goes out about 250 feet, so sometimes it is a long walk to the water. And sometimes during storms the water comes right up to your house!! I am just about 100 feet from the beach - makes for easy access. Just not much land with my house, but have to give up something I guess.
|
what a gorgeous view you have!! I am a beach bum and could get used to living like you do really easy!!!
|
what a view!!! So, when are you having an open house next? I'm sure we'd all come if we could. :-D

Great little town, Portland is. :) Let's see....I could just sit at your front/back door and toss my fishing line out and catch dinner. lol Maybe go out quohoging if the water goes out that far. Oops, clam digging would be what you do in Maine. They are Quohogs in RI. :) OMG! We could have a clambake!!! That would be awesome! Maybe I can talk hubby into getting orders to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. IT COULD HAPPEN!! Maybe I'll call the scrawney Detailer and see what he has to offer. Wouldn't that be great fun? Oh my! Then I would be closer to Karla and I could go play with Rosie and it wouldn't take me as long to drive up to Quilting Aggi to visit. Are ya up for road trips? :) |
Your fishing line would have to be pretty long to cast off my deck - might catch a bathing suit or two in the process!! We have quohogs - people dig for them all the time - with all the rain we have been having, I am not sure if they are safe to eat right now - I use them to make stuffed clams - need to chop them up since they are so tough. The little necks make good eating though. The news said last night that lobster is cheaper than sliced turkey - it is down to under $6.00 a pound. Lobstermen are suffering.
We are going to be over Karla's way in September, but probably not close enough to visit her. She will be teaching. Would love to go to Newfoundland to see Aggi. That is a long drive, but we could talk all the way!!! I think Portsmouth Naval is closing soon, or maybe they got a reprieve - that is a little over an hour from me. |

Now, to make sure I can REALLY talk him into it AND hope they have a billet! He also said that we could go to Ballston Spa, NY. Where ever that is! |
Brunswick Air is the one that is closing - that is about an hour north of here. That town is going to be hurting when all the airmen and women leave.
Portsmouth Naval is actually on the Maine side of New Hampshire - they always fight about which state it is in -though Portsmouth is in NH. You would have a ball buying fabric where I do - It is a surplus store that has everyhting including a fabric dept. and they carry all the top designers - highest price is $3.29 - but most are 2.69-2.99. Ballston Spa looks like it is a little north of Albany NY. |
I though my place was on the water. Across the street is a mariner. When we get flooded we see the water comming down to the street.
|
WOOHOO!
Ok, I'm going to push hubby for NH!! :) |
Then you can see both of us tlrnhi.
|
Wow beautifil pics. Thanks for sharing
|
Well, as soon as spring comes around again, you all can start putting in your bids as to where you want me to go. Ok, where you want HUBBY to go. lol I know where I would like to send him at times. hehe
But, NOT California. Sorry Californians! |
Where is he from? Does that play in the equation?
|
Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Actually, to me, lobster is over rated. I used to work baiting lines and such for fishermen. Smelly, stinky job, but paid well when in high school and needed money in a pinch. Used to go and pick the decks of fishing boats. Could get lobster for $2 each right off the boats, if you knew the right person. Had my fill of lobster, so I can take it or leave it actually. Not something I would go out of my way for, know what I mean? |
Oh Terri, the middle of our nation is nice too. I grew up in western upstate New York and went to college in South Dakota and loved it out there. Met husband in SD and since he was a Preacher's kid he wanted to move far away, so we moved back east. First Florida for master's degree - hated it there and then to the Washington DC area until his death in 1987. I moved to Maine in 1992 and just love it here, (Spent all my summers growing up on this beach in Maine!!!)
Upstate NY around Lake Champlain is a beautiful area too. Maine is one of the worse taxed states in the nation and also one of the poorest. Go figure!! When my Dad was alive, NY had good tax laws for retired people - don't know if they still do or not. We would like to get a second home out west in a drier and warmer winter climate. Maine would be our summer retreat. We are starting to look at homes on the lakes around here - I still want to be near water and the real estate taxes on the ocean are outta sight. With home prices low right now, we figure we better do something now. Ocean property is still up there if someone wants to live or vacation here they will pay the price. Too bad you can not look at property in NY now - houses are very reasonable in NY. As for lobster.....hmmmm.......we usually only have it a couple times a year, but I do enjoy it. Right now it is cheaper than steak or sliced deli turkey! |
Beautiful pictures!!
My oldest son lives near you in Biddeford. I love lobster!!! I'm a big shellfish fan. The more the better!!! :D |
Beachlady!! Such beautiful pics!! Thanks so much for sharing them with us, how lovely is that rainbow!!
|
Carol W - yes, Biddeford is very close. Take my 96 yo blind man to shop in the super Walmart down there.

Right now it is cheaper than steak or sliced deli turkey! One good thing....most states don't tax military retirement pay. We have been looking in those states, but it all depends on if hubby wants to do another career when he gets out. No clue what he wants to do. He loves to teach kids. I have been trying to get him to check out Troops to Teachers. He just flip flops about what he wants to do. |
great pictures and very beautiful looks cool there and we are hot
thanks for sharing |
Dodie, we usually have an ocean breeze, so even if it is hot, we have a cool breeze. We have had so much rain this summer, that I feel sorry for people who have come for vacation. Have had grandchildren here from June 17th until last Saturday and have a 10 yr old granddaughter coming on Sunday with a friend for a week. If it rains everyday, I might be ready to do myself harm!! Last visitors for the last two weeks of August will be my daughter, husband and almost 4 yr old grandson. We will need a vacation when all are gone!!!
|
Love the pictures, what a lovely way of life....... :D
|
Balston Spa, NY is closer to Saratoga Springs. Approx 10 miles west of Saratoga. Way North of Albany.
Jan in Vermont |
I've been told that there isn't much there. That's ok, the way I like it. As long as I can get some fabric, I'd be happy.
|
Not sure where you'd find fabric in Balston Spa, NY. pretty small area. Blink and you've passed it. We go through there on our way to Syracuse NY to our daughters and I've never seen a fabric shop worth stopping at.
