I started out making scrap quilts for charity but several turned out so cute that my family wants me to keep them, so pieced more. Guess what...I am nearly out of scraps! What a grand ending! I've made eight quilt tops this summer.

beds for animal shelter plz ladies. just double and triple check that there are no stray pins! winter and even cool fall nights make for very cold kennels. I use the larger pcs for scrap quilts but use the little ones for animal beds. animals don't mind ugly blanktes either

animals don't mind your ugly fabrics or crooked seam blankets either.

I see such beautiful use of scraps. Having grown up not mixing patterns etc in clothes, that's the hardest part of quilting for me. I love looking at them just have problems doing it. Maybe trying this will help. Now I just need to accumulate some scraps I'm willing to work with -- you need to complete projects to have scraps left ;). At least I've stopped buying bags of other people's scraps, then not using them.:D Oh well; my beagles love me even if I may be certifiable!! Joyce in hot and humid Delaware

...never having done this I need some instructions......do you just keep sewing scraps together until you have made a piece of fabric, so to speak, or are you using something as a foundation--muslin/paper..........sounds like fun!!!!!!

Muslin or paper or pages from an old phone book work very well.. I like to use muslin.. You can draw lines to do traditional piecing or just start sewing adding little pieces together and sewing them on where ever they fit ...which is my favorite.. I like to start sometimes by fussy cutting an animal, flower, or special piece and then crazy piece random anything that will fit ..or even sew two or three pieces together to make a strip that will fit the space:) I even use dryer sheets for a foundation. or I have rolls of paper adding machine tape I sew the pieces on and then ripe of the paper.. never waste a thread :).. I lots of time sort scraps in color ways and put them in zip lock bags until I am ready to cut crumbs and cover them with tulle and make paintings...
