I love my job. I get to doodle with my giant (longarm) sewing machine! Quilted some fun dancing Kokopellis in a client's southwest quilt last week and wanted to share it. I love the texture of quilting that brings a quilt to life, enhances the design, but doesn't overpower the piecework. But OK, I'll confess: I also love when the back of the quilt shows off the quilting!! ;-)

the back is exactly why i do not like pieced backings, many times the quilting will be lost on the back when its pieced.

now this client has a reversible quilt, a pieced front and a whole cloth back.

Very neat quilt and a great quilting job. I too am curious as to your technique. Or did you mark it out some how? The two different kokapellis look exactly the same so I am wondering how you manage this symmetry. I have made my own designs and then marked the quilt to get that symmetry. No way I could manage getting them to look exactly the same freehanding it from one to the next. Each one would end up looking different unless I made a pattern and marked the quilt or used some sort of template.
