Just finished jelly roll quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I just finished....except for the binding...my jelly roll quilt. This is the first jelly roll I have bought, and this isn't the pattern I started off to make. I just ended up with this, as the one I started didn't really look too good. I had hoped to bind it in one of the strips from the jelly roll, but it turns out I don't have enough, so it will have a blue binding.

Anyway, here it is. My son says it looks like a maze. It is a really different quilt from what I normally make, but it is growing on me.

very interesting lay out

Dina 10-19-2012 07:04 PM

Thanks, I didn't realize it was a rail fence until my sister told me that is what it was. I was just playing with the 8 inch squares I had made for the other pattern...which was something about Three Dudes and a Jelly Roll. I had part of it on my design wall and decided this just wasn't the fabric for that pattern. So I am saving that for a read scrappy look.

Your quilt looks nice! Great job! Where do you live in Texas? I lived in Lakeway (Austin) from 1994 - 1998. Miss it so much! So much to do there.

I live in the country near Wichita Falls...full of mesquite trees and cactus...not near the pretty hill country with lots of green like Austin is. :) Still, I am quite happy here. I've lived here 11 years.

My younger brother lives in Austin, TX and his family. He went there in 1965 when he went to the Air Force and met and married his wife in '66....been there ever since but did move back to Oregon in '70 but didn't stay long....his wife was homesick for TX.......she was born and raised there.....I've never been there myself.....

I bought this jelly roll at Tuesday Morning about a year ago. It was $15., but I have no idea if that is a good price or not. I had never looked at jelly rolls before and haven't since. I am looking at the fabric string that held it together, and it says Stripz. The tag says Quick Cuts Stripz...color-coordinate fabric pack. On the back of the tag it says style#3602 Peaceful Planet, made in Pakistan. It is cotton and has 3.5 yards of strips. I have no idea if it is still available anywhere. Hope this helps?
