No real suggestions, maybe a solid black border to close it off. But I love what you have done, very pretty !

Wow...thats really pretty! If it were mine, I'd use a fairly wide black border...I'd love it if I could find a black with a print that picks up a lot of the batik colors. Whatever you choose will just make it prettier I think!

sewjoyce 03-14-2009 11:55 AM

Wow -- it's beautiful!!

Roben 03-14-2009 12:25 PM

Really pretty! I agree with a black border, but I might try a narrow framing border to tie in with whats already there. Then a multicolor to tie it together maybe?

SulaBug 03-14-2009 12:29 PM

It is so pretty & you have done a great job making it. I am not sure how I would border it, but I am sure you will get lots of ideas here!! :D :D :D

Knot Sew 03-14-2009 12:34 PM

RedGarnet222 03-14-2009 02:57 PM

Oh that looks better I love it! Very nice.

sewsewquilter 03-14-2009 03:04 PM

Your black border is prefect! Your quilt is stunning.

Quiltntime 03-14-2009 03:33 PM

Excellent choice!

zyxquilts 03-14-2009 03:35 PM

Nice job dojo! :D
Do you have any of the multicolor batick left? If you do, you could make another border with it, then bind it in black.

tlrnhi 03-14-2009 03:35 PM

AWESOME!!! That small border did the trick! Great job!
Can't help you with the rest of it, but I agree if you could find some black with the colors that you have, that would be nice

dojo36 03-14-2009 04:51 PM

i've got some of each left but not enough of any to do the binding, hate to go buy more cause it's $10.98 a yard but hey a big thank you to all of you for all the nice compliments and the help with the borders. i think i'll put some of that light fabric for another small border if i have enough of that, i think i do. may have to sew all the scraps together and have a multi colored binding, i'll just have to see how it all comes out and what i have left over.

Very pretty! And I think you have gotten some great suggestions!

dojo36 03-14-2009 05:31 PM

yes shemjo i certainly have gotten wonderful suggestions, i'm not very good at picking colors seems like. i went to dinner with the two ladies that own the LQS this evening and yes she said that pattern is the stained glass window, i saw one like it in their shop, that's where i got the idea, i just didn't know what it was called at the time. back to the machine now to put the last border on it and i'll post another pic when i do, i'm so excited, can't wait, lol, crazy old woman huh

Marcia 03-14-2009 05:34 PM

That is just soooo pretty. I was going to suggest the narrow dark border-I am glad to see that you did it. I cannot wait to see it with the border on.

dojo36 03-14-2009 06:01 PM

ok yall, here's the final borders, whew, had enough barely. now gotta see what i can do about the binding. but also now will have to go buy some more batting and backing fabric. golly, so expensive hobby we all have. and thanks again for all the help. so does this look ok now?

That's perfect dojo!

dojo36 03-14-2009 06:14 PM

janstar and mountainquilter, thank you thank you, i'm always so proud when i do something and it turns out nice, guess we are all that way, aren't we!

Shemjo 03-14-2009 06:36 PM

Oh, I like what you have done!

Mountainquilter 03-14-2009 07:03 PM

Some times you just have to go for it.

You can always change it if you don't like it.

littlehud 03-14-2009 09:30 PM

I agree it needs a black border. I think it would set it off. Love the fabric you used.

ania755 03-14-2009 09:44 PM

Congratulation..... You can chosse any border you want....!!!!

sewjoyce 03-15-2009 06:21 AM

Wow -- that turned out just gorgeous!!!

Quilt4u 03-15-2009 07:06 AM

Debbie1 03-15-2009 08:38 AM

dojo36 03-15-2009 09:41 AM

That pattern is called Swirls. I will see if I can post a picture of it.

Rose Marie 03-15-2009 12:29 PM

It worked.
It is a free pattern at their website.

dojo36 03-15-2009 12:40 PM

oh ok thank you rose marie, i had seen one like it at the quilt shop i go to so i just copied that one but i didn't put those little tiny squares in the sashing - that looked too hard for me. but somebody told me it was called stained glass window, but whatever, it sure is pretty. and thanks for the info

Rose Marie 03-15-2009 12:48 PM

I didnt put the tiny squares in it either. I love the pattern, it is so easy to do and comes out so nice. I used marble fabrics for mine. They were charm packs called Crystals by Fabri-Quilt. Smaller than the 8 in blocks the pattern called for but turned out great anyway.
Love it done in the Batiks you used.
