Finally finished wedding memories wall hanging for son and DIL on Christmas eve. Took these photos very quickly and they aren't as clear as they could be.
I used the groomsman's tie, which was also made from the bridesmaid's fabric, in the quilt and used one of the wedding charms DIL was given on the day to pin the tie down. I also used organza, satin and crystals from her dress. The lavender/blue colour was very difficult to match/co-ordinate so I was limited in my choice of additional fabrics but was happy with the end result. My husband cross-stitched the wedding bells as his contribution. Wedding memories |

Thanks for your kind comments everyone.
It's lovely for the bride to have little things that bring back memories that might not be captured in photo albums but can be included on a quilt. The something borrowed that Melinda carried was a very small gold bow charm that belonged to me - she sewed it to her lingerie. I have sewn in onto the wall hanging. The pink panel with verse was part of the wedding card my hubby and I gave to them. There was one photo when they were signing the register and they shared a joke with the minister that was too blurry to use but it was a lovely moment so I have used it for the label. Having Dad contribute the cross stitch block makes it that much more special as well. Label |

Thanks again for your kind comments ladies.
It was really fun to do in a scavenger hunt sort of way. Trying to find relevant things to include without bride and groom being aware of it was a bit tricky at times. I was lucky in that my DD and SIL were the maid of honour and groomsman so wedding dress fabric scraps were secretly acquired from the dressmaker during fittings and SIL donated his tie to me after the wedding. We transported the flowers so I was able to photograph them then before they got bruised. I kept having to hide everything whenever the kids came to our house. I was surprised I didn't get caught out with stuff hiding in several different rooms. |
