I finally finished the binding on this quilt. It only took me a year! I bought the Kaffe Fassett fabrics in a kit at the very first quilt show I attended last year. Wish I had a yard of each print! I really adore his stuff. The backing had to be pieced. Backings always mess me up! Bones thinks it's his quilt. Silly dog.

The gorgeous quilting was done by Eagle Mountain Quilting: http://www.eaglemountainquilting.com/

No, I didn't plan it like that!

Awesome! That is gorgeous. Is it just triangles? Looks like a perfect 1st quilt to try.

Esqmommy 10-22-2009 06:54 AM

Love it. His fabrics are my FAVORITES right now! I just got his new book called Quilt Romance...I pretty much plan to make every quilt in the book and hang them in my house - would make great wall pieces!!

Ninnie 10-22-2009 06:55 AM

Simply gorgeous, and I love those materials!!

OrchidQuiltFish(OQF) 10-22-2009 07:02 AM

Chele,

Your quilt is beautiful. I love the colors.

Joan 10-22-2009 07:03 AM

Beautiful fabrics......hard to describe just "how" beautiful they are....

I am glad to hear of a source for machine quilting--my choices are limited where we live. How long do they usually take?

PuffinGin 10-22-2009 07:16 AM

Beautiful! Love those fabrics and simple quilt design--and nice backing too. So KF is a he--didn't know it was a person rather than a company name.

mytwopals 10-22-2009 07:19 AM

Very pretty. I like the bright colors. :D

Chele 10-22-2009 07:23 AM

Joan, Eagle Mounting Quilting is very fast! They are quite reasonable too. Even with shipping, the quilting costs are usually much less expensive than my local quilt shop. And my local shop is so backlogged most of the time.

Kaffe Fassett is a person! Here's his site: http://www.kaffefassett.com/Home.html

Sorry I spelled his name wrong in the title. Can't fix it now.

Iluv2quilt 10-22-2009 07:27 AM

The colors are just striking I want a yard of each too! Very pretty quilt!

k3n 10-22-2009 07:30 AM

A classic, understated Chele special!

Just kidding you, girl, it's beautiful! :D :D :D

And your little Bones looks like my Dougal Dog - is he a dachshund?

racnquilter 10-22-2009 07:32 AM

My dachsies always have to do quality assurance checks on my stuff also, LOL.

Beautiful quilt.

Bones is a miniature dachshund. It's really funny how many quilters have doxies. Here's his usual pose on the couch. Note the dog-made nest.

Harmony 10-22-2009 07:43 AM

Fantastic colors! I love the way it keeps your eye moving over the quilt!

ranger 10-22-2009 08:12 AM

Your quilt is so bright and pretty....it sparkles.

Bones is adorable.

Thanks for the information. I have the same problem locally, too. Most of the quilts I make are for gifts and I can't wait months and months to have them quilted. Their website is very user friendly and I think I'll give them a try.

Ducky 10-22-2009 08:55 AM

I really love the K.F. fabrics, and your quilt turned out great! I'm in love with your little inspector, too. Wow, what a cutie.

k3n 10-22-2009 09:02 AM

Aww what a sweet pic of Bones - he knows a comfy spot when he finds one! :D My Dougal is a mutt but he's definitely got dachsund in him, mixed with Jack Russel I think. :D

Tensi 10-22-2009 09:30 AM

WOW! What a beautiful quilt and what a great job you did! When I "grow up" (LOL, I'm 58), I want to quilt like that!!! I love Kaffee's quilts and own several of the books, but I am afraid to start one as my quilting is VERY basic. I am enjoying this great Board and am hoping to learn and get inspired.

Thanks all!

Bones is TOO cute! I have two strays who are my babies. Much larger than Bones, though. I also have 19 parrots (all adopted) and one bunny, also a stray my husband found in the part when he was tiny. We have a ZOO!

Gorgeous quilt!! How large are your blocks and how big is the quilt?? I love that fabric and am heading for that site now!

Kaffee Fassett fabrics are just scrumptous! And so is your quilt!!

ladybugquilter 10-22-2009 04:38 PM

Great quilt. I did not know that designer, will have to check out his line. THANKS!!!

sewnsewer2 10-22-2009 05:07 PM

littlehud 10-22-2009 06:20 PM

I love your quilt. It's so pretty. They back is great too. It could be reversible. Great job.

amma 10-22-2009 07:38 PM

Chele, another beauty!!! I just love your bright fabrics!!! Good Job :D :D :D

Sheree from Chicago 10-22-2009 08:48 PM

Chele I love your colorful quilts! This one is awesome. I bought a Kaffe Fassett book a couple years back at a quilt show. For some reason, when I go thru a catalog or page on internet of his fabrics, they are just too "out there". But, when you put them all together in one of his quilts they are stunning. I'm inspired. Thank you Chele!

tuesy 10-22-2009 09:05 PM

I love your quilt!! The colors just "pop" off the monitor!!!

I've always been partial to doxie's... my family has always had one up until the last 5 years or so... they're always so sweet, and will protect their family to the very end...

wvdek 10-23-2009 06:21 AM

Yummy colors, Chele. Great pattern!

JJean 10-23-2009 12:49 PM

Lovely quilt!!!

I found a sales site devoted to Kaffe Fassett's fabrics:

http://www.gloriouscolor.com/index.php

morecloth.com is a way to vew the fabric families

Brazen 10-23-2009 01:15 PM

Hey Chele, are those 5" charms cut diagonally? I see where it's very common to be able to buy charm packs of K.F.'s fabrics!!! I love what you did with YOURS!!!

joeyoz 10-23-2009 01:17 PM

It's beautiful. Love the little quilt inspector. He's a cutie.

kd124 10-25-2009 02:29 PM

Chele, this is beautiful. I can kind of see a square in a square in the overall pattern. My eyes just keep moving from one fabric to the next and admiring each.
