My dad owned the Mills Texaco til I was 17 then he closed up and went to work elsewhere. I grew up in the gas station and my husband and I ran a service station and a truck stop for two years when we were first married!
I spent all my time when I wasn't home at the station with dad. When I was sick I had a cot in the back of the station.
The guys that worked for him wouldn't let anyone cuss around me! I thought it was funny. But they played tricks on me too like lifting the back of the car up in the air when I was waiting on my mom at the station!

Bev, where did you get those patterns, they are great. Pat

2wheelwoman 07-21-2009 05:17 PM

Ooooo la la - you've got some pretty saucy ladies there Bev. I think they'll look wonderful in a scrappy quilt. They just can't help but make me smile.

Bev - the pin-up girls are so cute--can't wait to see them when they are all done.

damaquilts 07-26-2009 05:07 AM

I normally just read the posts. But I made a quilt for my daughter with these. I embroidered the girls. I haven't seen it in awhile but I will have to search it out and put up a picture. They are cute. And I can't wait to see yours.

oooooo i'd love to see yours. Maybe it'll give me an idea. I ran into a problem, which really was no biggy at all. The original patterns were so old they didn't transfer, so I took them to a copy store in town and the gal enlarged them a bit for me.
Then I found out from my sister that they are free online. LOL its ok. No ink.

damaquilts 07-26-2009 05:33 AM

As soon as my daughter wakes up I will take a photo and post it.
I got my pattern free on line. I don't even remember how I found it. But as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it for her.

Did you trace/transfer? How?

damaquilts 07-26-2009 06:00 AM

I think I traced. Its been awhile. My DD just got up so I am going to go search out the quilt and try to figure out how to post a picture.

damaquilts 07-26-2009 06:33 AM

Ok I couldn't figure out how to put the picture up. And when I looked at the home of the message board it looks like there is only one place to put up picture sooo Here is the link to my webshots page. The pinup girls is on the last page last pictures. I tried to move them to the front but my mouse wouldn't let go of the picture LOL

Its kind of simply done nothing fancy. I hit it real lucky on the fabric.

Bevanger 07-26-2009 06:34 AM

ok , cool. I can't wait. I've never really done people before, so its a new one for me :D

oooooo I just took a peek a boo. Hey I like those. I'm doing mine in colors. Never thought to do redwork. :? Love the fabric you used

damaquilts 07-26-2009 06:39 AM

I can't wait to see yours. I thought about colors but I had wanted to do some redwork and just killed to birds with one stone.

Bevanger 07-26-2009 06:42 AM

I started working on the girl again with hairbrush. I wouldv;e had her done already, but I had to put them in the closet while I made another ducky. Dern girls kept wanting to play with the duckies. Geesh. worse then kids ROFLMBO
