This is about the 6th quilted item (2 wall hangings and 3 tablerunners) that I've made entirely by myself, not counting hotpads. So, I'm kind of proud of how it turned out. The fabrics definitely made it easy to be beautiful.

Fantastic quilt, beautiful and bright.
nice job....
I saw these fabrics at the LQS but couldn't really visualize how to put it together... now I know. :D |
Love your quilt! I have drooled over these fabics!
How fun!
It was a lot more fussy cutting than I would have liked, but the more work on this kind of thing the better, it keeps me out of trouble!
Beautiful quilt, you did a great job on it!!!
Oh yes, it definitely tells the story. Are you old enough to remember when we watched the Wizard of Oz on TV every year I think around Thanksgiving time? Actually, I can really date myself cause I remember the first time I saw the movie was in a drive-in. I was about 8 or 10 and thought it was the most magical movie I'd ever seen, especially when Dorothy opened the door to the house and walked out of a sepia toned world into one of color. Your quilt is fabulous and brings back many memories for me.
Really nice!
What is the writing on the squares? Can't read from the picture. I love the Wizard of OZ! :) |
Starting at the top:"We're off to see the Wizard of Oz" "Poppies will put them to sleep" "If I only had a brain" "I even scare myself!" "No heart. All hollow." "I keep forgetting I'm not in Kansas."
The cream fabric around those first words was also an Oz print, it has hourglasses all over it. I had a lot of fun with this and spent a lot of time figuring out fabrics to go with the Oz stuff. |
The quilt is great, but now I have the song "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" sung by Munchkins in my head! Argh! If I only had a brain!!! LOL
Wonderful quilt! I have a lot of those fabrics but haven't done a thing with them yet.
my favorite movie, love it, pretty
what a great idea for a quilt.
I love it! What a great pay to put it all together! (You know, my husband never saw the Wizard of Oz until he was 29 years old! Makes me laugh.)
That is a fantastic quilt. My younger step daughter is a huge fan - she would love that!
Very pretty. That was always one of my favorite movies. I used to watch it every year.
That's beautiful. I really like how you have different types of blocks (hour glass, square in a square, etc) - definitely adds to the quilt

Lovely! What a classic. Those scary flying monkeys aren't on there are they? I only saw that movie for the first time last year. How frightening. No wonder my mother never let me watch it! But everyone loves Oz and now I can see why!

That is so cool. You did a wonderful job on it.

unfortunately I had these in a fundraiser auction this weekend and the quilt wasn't bringing as much as I'd hoped so I bidded on it and ended up winning it back! Poop. Oh well, I was having a hard time parting with it anyway.

I ended up buying this back from the auction I made it for in May. Gave it to my aunt for Christmas. She LOVED it! Yay!
