Beautiful quilt. I think whatever you decide will be perfect. Just a thought here though: batik fabric is more expensive than cotton, so I think it should be your decision as what to use. It will be beautiful whatever you decide.

WOW, beautiful quilt. Love the colors you used. This is on my to do someday list. Hope it turns out as nice as yours. Great job!

Soooo beautiful!! Personally I always use flannel on the back of my quilts, makes them more snuggly. But this is your quilt, so you get to choose.

I agree--this is beautiful! Having made2 bargellos (one king) I know that they get heavy with all those seams. And since batik is little heavier fabric, plus more expensive, and when I have it on the long arm I don't tighten quite as tight so there is no needle deflection, I used a plain cotton back on both mind. Keep in mind that there will be lots of seams close together with this pattern!

Love the quilt. Been thinking about making one, have the pattern, need the confidence. As for the backing you could use the remnants of the batiks (and make a strip or blocks of the batiks in a scrappy look. Place it somewhere in the backing fabric, make sure that it is off center but not too close to the edge of the finished quilt, don't want the square cut off when squaring the quilt.) As for the main fabric for the backing I would try and find something that compliments all the fabrics in the quilt top. With the blocks of batiks on the back you would have 2 quilts in one.

Your top came out great!
My personal preference for bed quilts is to use plain muslin for the back. You really aren't going to see the back (like you would for a throw or baby quilt), so why spend all that extra money?

Your quilt is just beautiful, and I love your colors.
