Absolutely love this - how clever! I too am intrigued on how it will go together. I did not see your dragon one however - is there a record somewhere of it here?

Annz 06-22-2010 07:13 PM

For the dragon reference, see thread in
"Main" under (I need help :0) The story starts on page 1, amazingly enough.

So, 10 hrs and 5 bobbins , this is how I spent my Friday night. I'm beginning to answer my own question of how it will go together. These are pics of the assembling of the upper left and right panels. What do ya'll think? Thanks for viewing!

gaigai 06-26-2010 02:52 AM

WOW!! It just gets better and better! You really are creative. I envy you creative people. I have to have a pattern, I don't come up with original ideas. But then I am very Left Brain, not Right Brain.

amma 06-26-2010 08:53 AM

What do I think? I think you are doing an amazing job on this quilt 8-)8-)8-)

Wow. I love it! Love the way you've got the water flowing, with the deeper sections standing out with the darker water.Love how one pool flows into the other, and really like how you're softening it with the flowers all around. Definitely another masterpiece in the making. I also like the dimension you're getting with the dirt(?) fabric. Can't wait to see where you go from here.

How cool! That's looking fantastic! And I need to find some of that fabric with the large koi on it - I saw a quilt in a book that I bought a while back that had them appliqued on it, and they were swimming out of some cubed blocks, very cool looking. Your design elements all look great, it's a scene that leads you into it, well done!

sharon b 06-30-2010 07:37 AM

How can we be harsh when it is so GREAT  Thanks for the update

amma 06-30-2010 08:31 AM

WOW!!! I love it!!!
You are a MASTER landscaper :D:D:D
Thank you for the update!!! 8-)

gaigai 06-30-2010 12:01 PM

It's always fascinating to me to see how Right-Brained people create!! I'm so left-brained I need a pattern to follow, I don't create, I re-create, so I envy those of you with real creative ability.

pennyswings 07-05-2010 09:23 PM

Ray love what you are doing with the fabric. Really creative stuff. Please keep us posted.

Rhonda 07-05-2010 09:46 PM

Fascinating to see what your creative bent comes up with! It is truly all in the eye of the creator! It is so great to see how you look at things!

I of course love love love what you are creating! This is the best sort of combining art and quilting!

earthwalker 07-05-2010 10:49 PM

Thanks for keeping us up to date. This is looking fantastic...you have the perspective working beautifully. I loved your Teahouse Dragon....but this one is going to be even more stunning. The technique you are using on the water is most effective. Look forward to seeing more....

amma 07-11-2010 03:28 PM

Isn't it about time for another update? :D:D:D

pennyswings 07-11-2010 04:02 PM

Ray, so you haven't posted anything since the end of June. You are keeping my on the edge of my seat waiting to see more of this fantastic new quilt you are working on. I went back and looked at the last pictures and cannot believe the depth of field you have achieved in this quilt.
I think all those years tatooing gave you a real ability to think outside the box.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Your work is really inspiring.
Another one that should go in a show.

Coming together beautifully. I love the ladies. Great work

Sheila Elaine 07-11-2010 04:18 PM

Ray, I can see your tattoo artistry coming through on this 2nd beautiful quilt. You carried the motions out so graciously & can't wait to see how you attach everything together, then quilt it all. Wow!
