La Hacienda quilt top- first large project of 2016

The bold colors and intricate blocks of this pattern captured my imagination at the end of 2015 and it took about 12 weeks of evenings and weekends to piece. This Top is approx 76" x 94". It is a combination of pieced and appliquéd blocks. The red circles surrounding each of the white crosses and the blue circles in the center of each cross are the appliqué components.

Hello Barb, the pattern was a 2014 Block of the Month called El Camino Real from Nancy Rink. I just bought the full pattern at once. I made adjustments to the pattern by doing less appliqué, omitting the last border, and finding some substitute fabrics in my stash.

Oh my goodness - thank you all for such nice comments! This quilt top still needs to be quilted, so I don't imagine being really finished until this summer.
Many fabrics were from stash. The blue background fabric was about 12 years old and had started to fade at the crease line, so it was time to stop storing it and use it. I had to cut off the faded sections with the cutting process. A few of the fabrics were specific for the pattern and are most likely very hard to find now.
Borders around 12 blocks were fussy cut.
