Here is a lap quilt that is now finished at Midnight Eastern Standard time, that I have been working on since 6pm EST. I think it turned out great:):)

Henry I love it! Didn't I say your next quilt would be smashing?! Is this one of your recent kit purchases? The bears look familiar....anyway kudos on a spectacular job!!

Thanks! The center panel is from one of the kits I purchased. The rest of it is from fabric i had here at home already. The white blocks with the bear or tree on it was actually an old bedsheet I had here at home in the closet.

The center panel comes from the kit but when i opened the kit there were no directions/instructions. So i just decided to do my own thing. :)

here is another look at it

Well nice decisions! It worked out well for ya! I love the reuse of old sheets. And it really does look great. How long you been at this again?

henryparrish76 03-08-2008 09:34 PM

:) I have been doing this only since around October or November 2007

adyldrop 03-08-2008 09:39 PM

Sweet me too. As far as quilting goes. Have you sewn for awhile? I think you had learned from your grandmother, right? It's so great you're keeping that going. And with such beautiful things!

jacquemoe 03-08-2008 09:49 PM

Well, look at that, Henry. You did a great job. I love the theme and the reuse of fabric/sheets. Way to go!

henryparrish76 03-08-2008 10:10 PM

I have been sewing since I was about 14 years old. My mother showed me how to sew as did school because I needed to electives to graduate my senior year so I took this class called Teen Living(did a lot of sewing) and Home Ec(cooking). I learned quilting from my grandmother.

henryparrish76 03-08-2008 10:10 PM

:) Thanks Jackie:)

Pam Pollock 03-08-2008 10:16 PM

I like your quilt Henry. Nice work. You sure do get a lot of projects completed. Are you keeping any of your quilts or are they going to other people?

henryparrish76 03-08-2008 10:30 PM

This one is going to my friend Troy. All of the bags I have made are in new homes with friends of mine. I have kept a couple of wall hangings for my kitchen and I am keeping the purple quilt I finished the other day.

Barb M 03-09-2008 12:19 AM

Now that is way cool!

Chele 03-09-2008 04:44 AM

No instructions in those kits?!! That's not fair! :( Great save, Henry! Looking good!

henryparrish76 03-09-2008 10:42 AM

thanks Barb :)

henryparrish76 03-09-2008 12:19 PM

LOL:)

newquiltertoni 03-09-2008 02:58 PM

Nice job Henry. Now that you have crossed over and started doing the bigger quilts, maybe you will join us in the block of the months..... :D

henryparrish76 03-09-2008 03:11 PM

:) That is my thought :)

Feathers 03-15-2008 08:09 AM

Wow! Henry...great job and how creative to take the kit and do your own thing with it when you realized the instructions were not available. Each piece you finish will show how much you've improved and will show your growth in technique and application. Good Job!

Diamonds 03-15-2008 08:16 AM

It looks really nice Henry.. I do like the rustic look..

Cathy M 03-15-2008 08:32 AM

Thanks for posting this. It has given me inspiration to as I started to do 'something' today for my DH grandmothers birthday next weekend - was going to be a pillow, then a quilt hanging and now it is turning into a lap quilt, but I am not following any pattern really. I thought my timeframe was aggresive but look what you did! It looks great too! Thanks again!
