Hi, I just introduced myself as a new member and thought I would give it a try at posting a picture.
As I said in my intro my project for last year was making each of my adult cousins a "lap quilt" and I didn't take a picture of any of them till the last one...lol. So hopfully here is the picture.

blues, yellows and gold

Thank you Shirley, I am looking forward to sharing more with all of you. :-)

Joan 02-18-2009 04:09 PM

So pretty, Shirley!
Blue and yellow is just one of my all
time favorite color combinations.
How many cousins do you have?
You have certainly been busy to
make them all a lap quilt!

Sharon M 02-18-2009 04:18 PM

Hi Joan, I have 6 cousins. besides the one in the picture, I made a pinwheel in shades of red mixed with tonal whites, a mauve, pink and rose colored fense rail, red, white and black turning twenty, a homespun raggedy quilt (I hand quilted that one) and a turning twenty with cat print and cat paw print material and I hand quilted that one too. The others I had a lady machine quilt. I can't seem to master managing all that material on a regular sewing machine yet

Sharon M 02-18-2009 04:41 PM

I have to get use to all of the terms..lol
QAYG is that quilt as you go?
If so ... no this one was machine quilted in a meandering pattern.

Moonpi 02-18-2009 05:09 PM

Hi and welcome from the Big Apple! Funny, I'm not overly fond of blue, but blue and yellow is soooo pretty. Really like your quilt.

What a crisp looking quilt! I do like the color combination. Maybe your cousins will send you a picture that you could share with us.

Sharon

Very pretty--I love blue and yellow together. I made it a goal to make everyone I most cared about a lap quilt. I think there's something so comforting about having a lap quilt of your very own that someone special made just for you--at least, that's how I hope all of my "victims" felt about it!

Marcia 02-18-2009 06:49 PM

Hi Sharon. I love this quilt. My bedroom is in blue and yellow and I have a stash of blue and yellow fabrics. A favorite with me :)

I've been reading and see that you like the QAYG method. I have never tried it but just finished looking at the vidio you recommended. I might give that a try some time. Thanks for the info.

RedGarnet222 02-19-2009 07:53 AM

Oh my last house was done in the yellow and blue french counrty style. It was very easy to live with. Everyone loved it.

Your quilt is very nice, I am sure your family loves the ones you shared with them. Too bad you didn't take a picture of the previous quilts you made. I would have loved to have seen them all.

Welcome from Washington. Very pretty quilt; I love the yellow and bue combo.

key4unc 02-23-2009 02:55 AM

That's gorgeous Sharon. What method did you use to make the blocks?

Sharon M 03-07-2009 07:20 PM

it is just stack and slash scrappy quilt then added sashing, sandwiched and had it machined quilted. Wish I had known about QAYG might have tired that on it :D
