Very nice - love the colors. Good luck quilting.

quilter1962 06-19-2008 01:07 PM

Beautiful colours, I'm drawn towards earthy tones. sorry I'm new to quilting also so not too sure where to advise you as to where to start. One of the experts here will though I'm sure - Good Luck.

I'm not sure how I would quilt that, but I had to say I love the design and colors!

mgshaw 06-19-2008 01:36 PM

Very pretty! Love the colors!

MAXIES2 06-19-2008 01:52 PM

This quilt could take any kind of quilting or be tied. It's all according to what you like todo. Are you a machine quilter or hand quilter :?: stitch in the ditch or meander :D I'm not much help I guess lol Anyway it is very pretty, i like the colors you chose..they go well together :D

barnbum 06-19-2008 02:15 PM

That is gorgeous!! I, too, LOVE earthy. I'd do a fairly large meander to not distract from the deisgn. I'd use a variegated gold-brown-thread. Oh, I mean that's what I'd ask my quilter to do.

ccbear66 06-19-2008 02:23 PM

Verrrrrrrrry pretttttttttttty quilt. I love the colors. Sorry I can't help you either with how to quilt it as I'd just take it to my quilter. Let us know what you decide and we also want to see the finished product.

Missi 06-19-2008 02:40 PM

I love the colors you used. Quilting ideas - that is where I always need help :?

lfw045 06-19-2008 02:53 PM

Personally, I would either tie it with a varigated pearl cotton floss or stitch in the ditch. Gorgeous quilt and great job on it!!!

zyxquilts 06-19-2008 02:56 PM

Beautiful! I think I would stitch in the ditch on the diagonal lines, then step back & look. If I was on a roll, then I might do the horizontal & verticals too. :)

jacquemoe 06-19-2008 03:54 PM

How cool. You have a clothesline. LOL Haven't seen one of those in years. I love the colors in your quilt. Nice job too. Find a stencil you like and size it to fit your blocks is one option.

Catherine 06-19-2008 03:56 PM

free motion big loops!

mgrhs 06-19-2008 04:04 PM

I love your color choice!!!!!

jbsstrawberry 06-19-2008 04:04 PM

No ideas on how to quilt it but boy it sure is beautiful!!! Awesome use of earthtones!

Cordelia 06-19-2008 04:53 PM

I love the colors you chose. I usually quilt in straight lines.

Sometimes I stitch a quarter inch from the seam instead of stitching in the ditch.

Celeste 06-19-2008 05:04 PM

I love those colors! They remind me of autumn. Beautiful quilt!

justme 06-19-2008 06:03 PM

Thank you everyone for your kind words and ideas on quilting.

Jacquemoe,.... I had to laugh when you said"a clothesline" haven't seen one of them in years. I have to have one, just love the smell of fresh dried sheets and towels. Hubby wanted to take them down, but I won't let him.

Marcia 06-19-2008 06:22 PM

Striking quilt. I love the colors. so "fall" and cozy.

sondray 06-19-2008 06:29 PM

Great job, love the colors.

tlrnhi 06-19-2008 06:41 PM

Can't help you with the quilting part, but it's nice!
I know, no help at all, right? lol

The first thing that came to my mind was stitch in the ditch or echo quilt.
I agree, love the quilt. :-o

raksmum 06-19-2008 09:34 PM

Beautiful! I would definitely stitch in the ditch so not to take away from the pattern and then do a free motion or stencil of some kind on the borders.

gcathie 06-20-2008 01:16 AM

Oh my how nice....I think I would quilt a quarter inch in on all the blocks..not something to busy but busy enough...good luck on picking a design..always a hard part...let us see it when it is done... :-)

reneebobby 06-20-2008 02:32 AM

WOw I just love the colors and all beautiful job. My first thought was stitch in the ditch and if you don't like that I think you can add more don't you think? 8)

Chele 06-20-2008 04:19 AM

That quilt is a looker! Beautiful! You do such nice piecing, I can't wait to see the quilting!

Bevanger 06-20-2008 05:01 AM

wow. i love it. thats a quilt i really want to try. i made one block and it was fairly easy. i love the colors as well

justme 06-20-2008 07:49 AM

Thanks everyone for your ideas!!! I may just do a stitch in the ditch so that it does not take away from the pinwheels. I can't wait to attempt this one. I have been looking for the perfect backing and think I have decided on it. Making the topper was easy, the choices are always the hardest!

vicki reno 06-20-2008 08:16 AM

That is some pretty!

DA Mayer 06-21-2008 10:07 AM

Is the material batiks that you used? Can't take my eyes off from it, the color is so striking

sewnsewer2 06-21-2008 01:09 PM

Nice job!

salisaquilter 06-21-2008 04:02 PM

I would use a good batting like warm and natural -- baste good and then do a stitch in the ditch quilting.
with the warm and natural you can quilt about every 6" and make it sturdy for washing. I might
use a nice border binding to make the colors pop

justme 06-21-2008 06:50 PM

Binding is a Batik - dark green, really looks good when I hold it up to the topper.
Salisaquilter, thank you for your suggestions, they are much appreciated!

:-)

quiltin'me 06-24-2008 06:30 AM

Great colors, can't wait to see it completed.

Jean Mathews 06-24-2008 09:29 AM

Great looking quilt, I also love the colors. I think you could tie it or sew in the ditch and it will look great.

chairjogger 06-24-2008 09:32 AM

wow ! I love tha fall colors ! have you checked out any books? Amish style is plain around inside of each triangle. The boarder is a fun wide strip that could be creative! Good luck ! Love to know the rest of the story!
