NOOOOO! Don't let anyone put a plate on those placemats, the're too pretty! Maybe placemat means something else across the pond? I can see those on a special table as a tabletopper or as a mini wallhanging. They are beautiful!

These are so pretty. I'm assuming you bought the fabric in England. My DSIL is from England and I know he would love to have something like this for his dining room table.

Love all things Celtic. My ancestors came from the Isle of Man and I will take anything I can get my hands on that is Celtic. Did you do the knots? Are they fabric blocks? Sure would love to hear more about them. They are gorgeous.
