I made a similar pattern in the green family but in the plain center of the block I quilted a shamrock or a cladegh design using a stencil. I used the warm and natural cotton batting and that says you can quilt up to 10" apart. I did some SID quilting also. Pleased with the results and it was fun to do the open areas with different shapes.

Well, since this one is red, I really don't want a shamrock in my plain block, the one I used the pattern from was the lady had made hers in blue, she did use a shamrock and it looked very pretty, but I'm thinking along the line of some type of floral, maybe, but I am also going to do some SID quilting.

I also made one in pink/gray with a shamrock quilted in the center of the block. It was hand quilted by friends and I made my shamrock stencil and finished it.

BEAUTIFUL quilt, Delores! I've been wanting to do this exact same quilt for a long time. My fear is that my corners wouldn't match. You did a great job. I'm anxious to see how you decide to quilt it.
