I like yours too. It is one I have been wanting to do. I like the traditional patterns I would like to make some more of the older patterns before I try some of the new ones. How is yours quilted?

Thank you ladies Anyone got any suggestions on how to quilt the white blocks? I have decided to quilt a x in the smaller squares but not sure how to do the other

Sew Special 02-15-2011 11:57 AM

Well done! Looks great in red and white. Traditionally (I believe) the centre white squares were to showcase the quilters favourite designs. Would love to see it when you've quilted it :D

I made a similar pattern in the green family but in the plain center of the block I quilted a shamrock or a cladegh design using a stencil. I used the warm and natural cotton batting and that says you can quilt up to 10" apart. I did some SID quilting also. Pleased with the results and it was fun to do the open areas with different shapes.

Well, since this one is red, I really don't want a shamrock in my plain block, the one I used the pattern from was the lady had made hers in blue, she did use a shamrock and it looked very pretty, but I'm thinking along the line of some type of floral, maybe, but I am also going to do some SID quilting.

harvsstuff 02-16-2011 04:54 AM

I also made one in pink/gray with a shamrock quilted in the center of the block. It was hand quilted by friends and I made my shamrock stencil and finished it.

BEAUTIFUL quilt, Delores! I've been wanting to do this exact same quilt for a long time. My fear is that my corners wouldn't match. You did a great job. I'm anxious to see how you decide to quilt it.
