Thanks for all the kind words. I like to think outside the box. ;)
I hope my niece is thrilled with it too. I am going to surprise her with it at our family
picnic this summer.

Looks like you had to do a whole lot of cutting those squares. Thanks for showing the back too. I love it.

Thanks everyone. :) Sash, i often think the back is as neat as the front on a rag quilt.
All the cutting kept me busy and out of trouble....well mostly...LOL

Nicely done.

That is a very nice, scrappy rag quilt.

what did you use for batting? And how to you launder such a monster (BEAUTIFUL monster...lol) of a quilt?

Flowergurl 04-07-2016 12:48 PM

Thanks, I am glad you all like it.
Stray cat there is no batting. The denim makes it plenty heavy. However, i used mostly cotton this one instead of flannel and it is lighter than the mostly flannel version.
It fits just fine in a large capacity washing machine at home. :)

I think the tags are cute to use. Nice job getting this big heavy quilt done.

I've always been drawn to Rag quilts, and this one you made for your niece is colorful and unique. Thank you for showing it and the explanations of how it was made. As I understand it, the denim was used as the foundation and you did a "stitch & flip" with the quilting cottons, the stitching lines becoming the quilting. Is that correct? When putting the blocks together, do you stitch twice for re-enforcement?
