I vote for red.....but everything is subjective...and I am a warm color person..that loves Red..

mrsj82 10-23-2009 07:28 PM

RED!!!! Although the blue was a nice backup...

kd124 10-23-2009 09:49 PM

To me, the blue is the wrong shade of blue. The green deepens the colors of the blocks and the red set them off. So.........my vote is red. Or.......How would is look with red sashing and green or a blue to match the blocks as cornerstones?

I vote for the green. The others seem too bright to me. Love the squares!

I second the motion on this one.

Green for me too, it does a better job showcasing your beautiful blocks. The other two colors while lovely, tend to demand a bit more attention.

wordmama 10-25-2009 12:03 PM

Green! The blocks are gorgeous!

CrystalKicks 10-25-2009 04:33 PM

I like them all too!!

Latest update...

I actually have this mostly put together, but have not taken pictures since I started assembling. I wanted to let you all know what I have decided on, and see what you think. So.... what do you think?

Close up. The pictures do not show the colors very truly, but they are consistant. (LOL)

Layout example. The finished quilt will be 6 X 7 blocks, with at least 2 and maybe 3 borders. (Don't worry... I will show you as I progress more!)

Even though I added updated photos, it did not seem to raise it in the list... it is buried! I need your support and opinions, please! Thus, trying again to "bump" it up the list a bit!

mamabird3 10-25-2009 10:44 PM

Nice choice, I am looking forward to seeing it all sewn together.

I LOVE IT !!!!!!!
I think your color choices are great.
Looking forward to more pics.

I like them all, but would like to see an inner border the same as the sashing and then use the main fabric for an outer border so you'd see the whole fabric you started with. It's so pretty!

Okay... so the center is all put together. Here is what I am thinking for the borders. I don't have enough of the uncut fabric to go on the sides, and think that would be too much anyway. I have coordinating green with buttons, as well as the other sashing candidates. I am thinking the red will be the binding, as well as (possibly) an outer border. Opinions, please!!

cnolan 10-26-2009 11:27 AM

ok... time to sheepisly admit that I am sitting here, hoping for someone to tell me I am not nuts so I can go finish that quilt!

Someone reply soon, please, so this neurotic quilter can get back to work! (hehehe)

kd124 10-26-2009 01:12 PM

I'm still not liking that blue. I think the fabric on the top and bottom would work. I often do this because I don't like making square quilts or I need more length. I am not sure about the buttons fabric. I know it is coordinating fabric, but I can't tell from the picture if it distracts from the blocks. Maybe a narrow border of this. I like the red for a border and/or binding. Do you have more of the cream? yellow? that you used on the blocks for one of the borders. I really like that color with the main fabric.

Well, digging through my "scraps", I found I do have enough of the "imagine the possibilities" to go all the way around, so here is another slight variation for the borders. I think if you could see the "true" colors, you would like the blue more, and I agree that the green buttons may not be a great match. I am almost completely out of the gold, but may be able to pick up more. I am just not sure that the quilt can handle much more of that.... I will certainly give it more thought!

That said, here is the next thought.

Thanks again for all your help and input!!!

Ok, have decided to go back to "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid!). I will use the fabrics shown in the last picture EXCEPT for the button fabric. I will post pictures when it is done ~ hopefully later today.

Thanks again for everyone's help and encouragement!!

Congratulations for making a decision. You know, the really most important thing is that it pleases YOU. I know that once it's done and you post the final pictures, it will be gorgeous!

cnolan 10-27-2009 05:00 AM

Thanks, Gail!!! I have no doubt that when it is finished, lots of people will say they love it, and some will not care for it. I will undoubtedly swing from one group to the other, as usual.

Of course, I have no idea what I will do with this once it is done. Perhaps I will get it quilted and put it on my own bed ~ that would be a switch! I am always making quilts for everyone else! LOL

You're very welcomed. That's a great place for it. We do cheat ourselves out of lovely pieces because we're always making something for someone else.

Bevanger 10-27-2009 05:22 AM

oooooooohhhhhhhhhh this is hard. its a toss up between red and green. hrmmm i guess i vote green.

kd124 10-29-2009 10:42 PM

Glad you made a decision, and I look forward to seeing it all together. It is always nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of; in the end it is your quilt, and you get to do what is pleasing to you.

adriansmom 10-30-2009 06:07 PM

I like the blue. Definitely shows off the blocks!

fish92241 11-14-2009 08:02 PM

I like the green the best. The red seems to compete for me. The lovely blocks show up best on the green. Beautiful quilt!
