Lavendar quilt for customer is finally finished!

I like most colors, and especially bright ones, but honestly I really don't care for lavendar. so when I was asked to make a lavendar/purple quilt for someone, I agreed, but it took longer than I would have wished to get it finished because I just didn't like it. The basic patch is called a Drunkard's Path, and it's arranged in an around-the-world fashion to get the cute curl-and-point effect. (I do like the pattern, just not the colors.) Then the heart appliques added a neat touch. I quilted it in rings following the colors. I used a heart-and-leaf single line motif for the quilting. I quilted with a Sulky variegated thread for all but the white. I outlined the hearts with white, and in between added another heart, or a single rose, as needed. The white designs ended up getting lost in the white material, but I didn't have the energy to tear it all out and do it again. In the pictures you can see the quilt first as sewn, but not quilted with a close-up of a corner on the 2nd photo, then 3 pics after it's quilted. The 4th one shows the white-on-white quilting, and the last one shows the simple leaf motif on the borders. At least it's finished, and I can get started on my next project! Hope you enjoy looking.

You did a wonderful job despite working with colors and fabrics that were not to your liking. I have that problem too, if I don't love the fabrics and all the other elements I tend to lose interest quickly.
Its a beautiful quilt, wonderful work.
your quilting is great. i know what you mean about lavender... my newest tenant wanted lavender walls. as i was painting, all i could think of is the song lavender blue, dilly dilly, lavender green. LOL luckily, i was finished with the painting in a day. i don't think i could do an entire lavender quilt

It has a vintage look to it, nice pattern and I like your rose and leaf quilting.
Wow, if that is what you make when you don't care for the colors or fabric I can't wait to see what you do when you love something. You did a great job on the quilt and the quilting. Looking forward to seeing something you do like. Lovely quilt. BrendaK

I love the colours, purple / lavendar is one of my favourite colours and this quilt is gorgeous. The heart appliques just add to the overall appeal of the quilt.
the hearts are a very nice touch

I too have issues with working on colors I don't really care for. You did a great job! You should be proud I am not a lavendar fan but this came out very nice.
Just beautiful. I would be so proud to be able to say that I had created a treasure as this!
You have created a magnificent quilt! I love it! Beautiful quilting!
This is a very pretty design. I have 3 sisters and 4 nieces who like purple/lavender. This gives me an idea for a quilt for one of them when the time comes. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful quilt. Reminds me of a vintage hankerchief.
It turned out beautifully, even if you didn't like the colors.

It is realy hard to work on a project that isn't totaly your cup-o-tea. I had to make a quilt with race cars and B&W checked flags once. Never again! That said, you did a fabulous job. I love this pattern and the simple quilting works great with the busy fabric. Not all the quilting has to show up. It has a nice soft look to it. I like it very much. You can congratulate yourself now.

Ooooh... I love this (& I'm not a lover of purple either, tho my DIL just loves it)! I think it has a vintage-y, shabby chic feel to it. I love the pattern & your quilting is really superb. I'm sure your customer is over the moon over this beautiful quilt!
What a great quilt you made! You should be very proud of it. It looks superb on the bed!
This is absolutely gorgeous.......what a wonderful quilt!
I think it looks very pretty on the bed. I'm sure your customer will love it even if the color scheme was not your taste. Peggy

I think your quilt came out wonderfully. The pattern layout is great as are your fabric choices. You have no control over your client's color choices. Saying that, I think you did an excellent job on something you really didn't have your heart into. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure your client will love it.

I don't usually care for the drunkards path in its usual arrangement, but I do like the around the world you have done here. Very nice. and the appliqued hearts give it a fun something different also. I love it.
I know what you mean about working on a project where you don't like the fabric.
The quilt is very pretty, though. Great job! |
wow...that is just lovely....when you DO for others it is hardest to remember it is not to please you, but them...I think you did a great job!
Wow!! that is toooo beautiful!! Great job.
This is truly a beautiful quilt. You did a great job!!!
It is beautifully made and quilted. I like vibrant purples and agree with you about Lavendar! It is a tad insipid.
Despite this difficultyyou did a great job. Congratulations!!! |
I like lavender when it looks this good! You certainly spiced it up a bit with the heart shapes! It's a wonderful quilt! I could even be convinced to paint my room lavender if I had this quilt to put in it!
I love all shades of purple and I love this quilt
