Either a quilting motif in blue or.....blue hearts instead of multi-colored ones would look great.

without hearts, the beauty blue and white shines through and you'll have lots of room to quilt in those white spaces too!

I think it depends on the person who is getting the quilt- does she like a lot of color, or would she like just blue and white? Also, I like the idea of putting a quilting motif in the centers, but you could do that whether or not you put the hearts in the centers of the snowballs.

I like the hearts but on this quilt, I think they need to be in the blue shades with the rest of the quilt.

I like it better without. It makes it looks a little too juvenile for me. But you could always quilts hearts in the blanks areas. I 've seen great stencils with hearts if you hand quilt,
