I wanted to try out a new block, the Dresden Plate (WIP). I think they are beautiful, but way time consuming. I don't think I would have the patience to do an entire quilt, so I will either make this into a wall hanging, pillow sham, or an accent pillow.

I am looking forward to making a queen size for my daughter as soon as I purchase a ruler.
Yours looks great. Continue on and make a runner.

That is beautiful. Oh, make a quilt, because with great blocks like that it would really be beautiful. If you are just learning, you did a better job than I could and I have done some before. Thanks for sharing.

twixbar 09-04-2011 02:52 PM

Very pretty. I like the colors, and think it would make a really pretty pillow.

Sallyflymi 09-05-2011 04:10 AM

Great job. Don't give up yet. Don't work it all at the same time. Do a little here and a little there. Before you know it you will have the quilt.

Rumbols 09-05-2011 04:12 AM

That is really good for the first time. I want one for my Cal-King bed, but can't seems to find the ruler. Yours' look good. On my to-do-list soon.

Confederate Rose 09-05-2011 06:46 AM

That's too pretty to stop at one! I love the Dresden Plate. I have one on my bed that my mother made.

grannypat7925 09-05-2011 06:50 AM

Great job! I agree that they are time consuming, but beautiful!

Homespun 09-05-2011 06:50 AM

Very pretty!

rootyr 09-05-2011 06:50 AM

Beautiful!

dottientx 09-05-2011 06:52 AM

Have you checked out Ricky Timms (sp) method of making the points on the Dresden Plate petals? So simple and so quick. No raw edges which have to be turned under.

BeckiQuilts 09-05-2011 06:58 AM

Your Plate is beautiful. I just finished doing 12 for a King Size coverlet for my bed. My trouble is with the measuring for the block, sashing, etc. I want a drop of three inches below the mattress so I can use it with a bed skirt. I also love the tool! I would have never attempted this without it.

ljptexas 09-05-2011 07:24 AM

Pretty! Pretty! Love the Dresden!!! Great job...

  ;) ;)

quilter1430 09-05-2011 07:29 AM

Vivian Ketron 09-05-2011 07:51 AM

Very pretty.

deerhaven3 09-05-2011 07:53 AM

If you love the Dresden Pattern, you should try to find Anelie Belden's book, "Thoroughly Modern Dresden." She has developed an easy way to make the Dresden Plate shapes. On a side note, she is a member of the guild I belong to, a very sweet woman.

sewing4kix 09-05-2011 07:59 AM

I think this would make a great wall hanging or even a table center piece/runner :)
