The term legacy is true here. These are quilts that tie and bind us. These families are blessed to have these marvelous quilts still here and with the history attached. (and they are pretty - love the fabric, colors, and patterns)

nothing better to remind of us of what we are than to look at old traditional quilts........

I just love to hear the stories -- I wish I had asked more questions when my grandmother gave me quilts. My grandparents were divorced and I don't really know who made them. But I'm guessing my grandfathers mother because of the workmanship and I say that I got my talents from her. I loved my quote step grandmother as my own but her workmanship was much different. And the colors of the quilts trace to the era of my grandfathers mother. Wow I really chatted along here.

BarbaraSue 02-23-2012 11:32 AM

the story of these quilts should be documented. It would give more meaning to the quilt and to the family.

G-maBecky 02-23-2012 09:30 PM

WOW!!! Look at all of the history, from the grandmother who pieced them, the people they were passed to, & the one who finished them.

moreland 02-25-2012 08:38 AM

They are lovely. Couldn't help but think the strip quilt looks much like the "new" jelly roll quickie quilts. Not much we do is really altogether new, is it? Thanks for sharing.

That's exactly what I thought. They call this one "Stripey" - stripes, strips --- same old, same old.
